Xiaomi Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact launched in India at ₹7,999 with 99.97% filtration, smart app controls, 20dB Sleep Mode and compact design.
New Delhi:Xiaomi has expanded its smart-home portfolio in India with the launch of the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact. The compact model is designed for bedrooms, study rooms, kids’ rooms and home offices.
Priced at ₹7,999, the air purifier targets consumers looking for high-efficiency filtration, smart controls and quiet operation at an affordable price.
The launch is part of Xiaomi’s wider expansion of the Mijia brand in India’s air-care segment. The company has also introduced the more powerful Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 and brought back the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite.
The three models target different room sizes and budgets.
Xiaomi Mijia Air Purifier 4 Compact: Price and positioning
The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact has launched in India at ₹7,999, making it the entry-level model in Xiaomi’s newly introduced Mijia air-purifier range. The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 is priced at ₹19,999, while the reintroduced Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite costs ₹12,999.
The Compact model is primarily designed for personal spaces rather than very large rooms. Xiaomi says it is suitable for spaces of 400 square feet and above, although the official global specifications list an effective coverage area of 16–27 square metres and a Particle CADR of 230 cubic metres per hour.
Its compact form factor also makes it easier to place on a desk, side table or directly on the floor. The purifier weighs approximately 2.2kg, making it considerably easier to move around the house compared with larger air-purification systems.
99.97% filtration efficiency
The biggest highlight of the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact is its 3-in-1 filtration system. Xiaomi claims that its high-efficiency filter can capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The filtration system is designed to reduce common airborne pollutants such as dust, pollen, smoke, pet hair and pet dander.
The purifier uses a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration technologies. According to Xiaomi, its high-efficiency filter is designed to trap fine airborne particles, including PM2.5, pollen, pet dander and smoke. The company also highlights the filter’s ability to capture very small particles under its specified testing conditions.
For households dealing with seasonal allergies or indoor dust, this filtration capability is one of the main reasons the device could attract attention. The purifier also carries TÜV Rheinland Allergy Care Certification, with Xiaomi positioning it as a device suitable for allergy-sensitive users and homes with pets.
However, the 99.97% figure should be understood as the manufacturer’s stated filtration performance under specified conditions rather than a guarantee that all indoor pollutants will be removed from an entire room.
Real-time air quality monitoring
The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact features a particulate matter sensor that continuously monitors indoor air quality. Instead of using a large digital display, it has a four-colour indicator light. This gives users a quick visual update on pollution levels.
The indicator light changes based on the detected air quality. Green indicates relatively clean air, while yellow, orange and red signal rising pollution levels. This simple system lets users check indoor air quality at a glance without opening the app or interpreting complex readings.
The sensor also works with the purifier’s automatic mode. In Auto Mode, the device can adjust its purification speed according to changes detected in the surrounding air.
Three operating modes
Xiaomi has equipped the purifier with Auto, Sleep and Manual modes.
Auto Mode is designed for everyday use, allowing the purifier to automatically adjust its performance based on detected air quality. This can be useful for users who do not want to manually change fan speeds throughout the day.
Sleep Mode focuses on quieter operation during the night. Xiaomi claims the noise level can be as low as 20dB in this mode, while the display light can also be switched off. This makes the purifier suitable for bedrooms and other spaces where low noise is important.
Manual Mode gives users more control over purification settings. Xiaomi says users can customise the purification area and adjust the operating speed according to their preferences.
Smart controls through Xiaomi Home app
The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact is not limited to physical controls. Users can connect the device to the Xiaomi Home app, allowing them to operate and monitor the purifier remotely.
Through the app, users can switch the purifier on or off, adjust settings, monitor air quality, set timers and manage other functions. This means users can start purification before returning home or schedule operation according to their daily routine.
The purifier also supports compatible Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant devices, allowing users to control supported functions through voice commands. Xiaomi notes that compatible smart speakers or voice-control devices are required for these features.
Compact design and energy efficiency
The Air Purifier 4 Compact features a small footprint, measuring approximately 220mm in diameter and 355mm in height, with a net weight of around 2.2kg.
Its compact build makes it suitable for rooms with limited floor or table space. Users can place it near a bed, work desk or study area without taking up as much room as larger air purifiers.
Power efficiency is another highlight. According to Xiaomi’s official product information, the purifier has a maximum power consumption of around 27W. The company also states that 24-hour continuous operation can consume approximately 0.7kWh under its specified testing conditions.
The purifier uses a brushless DC motor, which Xiaomi says reduces friction and supports quieter and more efficient operation.
Filter replacement and maintenance
Like other air purifiers, the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact requires regular filter replacement. Xiaomi has designed the unit to make this process easier, with the filter accessible from the bottom of the device.
The purifier can also alert users when the filter needs replacement, making it easier to maintain consistent performance. Regularly changing the filter is important because an air purifier’s effectiveness depends not only on its filtration technology but also on the condition of the filter.
Users should also factor in the price and availability of replacement filters when considering the purifier’s long-term running costs.
Xiaomi expands its air-purifier portfolio
The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact expands Xiaomi’s air-care portfolio in India. It joins the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 and Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite.
The flagship Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 is designed for larger spaces. It offers a Particle CADR of 443m³/h and a Formaldehyde CADR of 218m³/h. It also features a five-stage PentaClean purification system, UV-C technology and negative-ion functionality. A larger display provides real-time air-quality information.
The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite has also returned to the Indian market at ₹12,999. It offers a Particle CADR of up to 360m³/h and is designed for rooms measuring between 269 and 463 square feet.
This gives consumers three different choices depending on room size, purification requirements and budget.
What makes the Mijia Air Purifier 4 Compact notable?
At ₹7,999, the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact focuses on features aimed at entry-level smart air purifier buyers. It claims to filter 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.
The purifier also carries TÜV Rheinland Allergy Care Certification. Other features include real-time air-quality monitoring, automatic purification, app-based controls and a 20dB Sleep Mode.
Together, these features make the Compact model a practical option for users seeking smart controls and quiet operation at a lower price.
Its relatively lightweight design also makes it convenient for users who want to move the purifier between rooms.
For consumers in areas where outdoor pollution can affect indoor air quality, compact air purifiers are becoming a practical household appliance. The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact combines air purification with smart-home connectivity. It also offers these features at a lower price than larger models in the lineup.
Overall, priced at ₹7,999, the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact is Xiaomi’s more affordable Mijia air-care option in India. It combines high-efficiency particle filtration, smart monitoring and quiet nighttime operation. The purifier is designed for users who want cleaner indoor air in bedrooms, study areas and other personal spaces without a high upfront cost.
