This is Rishabh Pant’s first competitive match after he made his way back from serious injuries sustained in a December 2022 vehicle accident.

The competition to be included in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 roster is becoming more fierce, particularly for the wicketkeeper-batter position. There are other candidates vying for that job, including Jitesh Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul.

However, out of the six, Rahul has not yet found his rhythm, while Samson, Pant, and Ishan have set the pace.

The applicants will need to demonstrate their form and establish their claims in the first half of the season, as the selection committee is expected to debate potential candidates by the end of April.

Pant had terrible injuries in a vehicle accident, and he hasn’t played cricket for his country since December 2022. His first competitive tournament after quickly recovering fully is the 2024 Indian Premier League; however, he has demonstrated form and fitness, guiding the Delhi Capitals in the current campaign.

Pant leads DC in runs scored in the IPL 2024 thus far, with 194 from six games. He has also ripped off a few fifty-score innings.

He contributed significantly to DC’s six-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, hitting a rapid 41 off only 24 balls, which included two sixes and four fours.

Throughout his innings, the 26-year-old surpassed the previous mark set by Rajasthan Royals captain Samson to become the third-fastest player in IPL history to reach 3,000 runs.

When the Gujarat Titans played RR in Jaipur earlier this week, captain Shubman Gill set a new IPL record for the fastest time, reaching three thousand runs.

In a hilarious turn of events, a Bengaluru woman’s attempt to use a “family emergency” as an excuse to skip work and attend Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) PL match was busted when her manager spotted her cheering for the team on live television from the stadium.

The incident unfolded during a recent IPL match held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Little did the woman know that her impromptu decision to call in sick and attend the match would lead to her being caught red-handed.

Her manager messaged her the next day after seeing her on TV, asking about the match and letting her know he had seen her live. This post was shared a couple of days ago. It has received more than two lakh views since its posting.

The incident quickly garnered attention on social media, with netizens amused by the woman’s failed attempt at pulling off a convincing excuse. Some praised her dedication to supporting her favorite cricket team RCB, while others couldn’t help but admire her audacity in trying to pull off such a bold move. The post also has nearly 4,000 likes and countless comments.

On Monday, the Mumbai Indians team celebrated one of the most important Indian holidays with a riot of colours. Playing Holi together helped the players feel refreshed.

Stars from MI’s greatest shows appeared to be smitten with the Holi fever, tossing colours at one another. Rohit Sharma, the former captain of MI, was being a mischievous guy, sprinkling water on his teammates.

Hardik Pandya, the MI captain, Tilak Varma, Piyush Chawla, and Kumar Kartikeya Singh were observed participating in the action.

Among the crowd were foreign celebrities like Romario Shepherd and Dewald Brevis. MI’s official Twitter account posted a number of videos from the festivities.

Amidst the spectacular festivities, MI shared a humorous picture of Tilak and Brewis all covered in colour. Both cricket players were grinning broadly, as Tilak was seen in the photo hurling a bucket of water in Brevis’ direction. 

Although the MI’s celebrations were bright, their IPL 2024 campaign got off to a very different start. On March 24, MI, led by new captain Hardik Pandya, lost to the Gujarat Titans, the runners-up from the previous season, by a mere six runs.

Following Pandya’s transfer to MI, Shubman Gill took over as captain of the 2022 IPL winners.

The aforementioned match took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with MI choosing to bowl first after winning the toss. GT reached 168/6 thanks to 31 runs from Shubman Gill and 45 from Sai Sudharsan.

In the chase, MI loses Ishan Kishan for a four-ball duck.

The team recovered thanks to Rohit Sharma and Brevis, who also gave them a strong foundation.

In their second IPL 2024 encounter, Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched a dramatic victory over Punjab Kings, securing a nail-biting four-wicket triumph at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Dinesh Karthik emerged as the star of the match, guiding RCB to success with his composed and impactful batting display. The match kicked off with RCB facing a slow start in their pursuit of Punjab Kings’ target of 177 runs. Virat Kohli stood out as the lone warrior in the early stages, crafting a brilliant innings of 77 runs off 49 balls. However, Kohli’s departure in the 16th over left RCB in a precarious position at 130/5.

It appeared that RCB was on the verge of another loss when Dinesh Karthik entered the picture. He didn’t have a good start as he saw his partner Anuj Rawat lose his wicket on the second ball of the 17th over, and the wicketkeeper was replaced by Mahipal Lomror. His inning started with a four. Then, Karthik hit Sam Curran for a four, and the over concluded with two runs. Lomror attacked Arshdeep Singh for a six and four in the 18th over, as the Indian bowler gave 13 runs, bringing the total to 23 off 12 balls. Then, in the 19th over, Harshal Patel let up 13 runs, getting clobbered by Karthik for a four and six.

As the game approached its climax, RCB found themselves needing 10 runs off the final over. Shikhar Dhawan entrusted Arshdeep Singh with the ball, but Karthik remained unfazed. With the RCB dugout on their feet in anticipation, Karthik lofted Arshdeep’s first delivery over the boundary for a six, igniting celebrations among the team. India defeated England in their first innings on Friday in Dharamsala . Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill turned their fifties into outstanding hundreds, and Sarfaraz Khan and the uncapped Devdutt Padikkal hammered fast fifties.

On Day 2 of the Dharamsala Test against England, India proceeded to build on their first-inning total. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both scored 100 in the first session, and youngsters Sarfaraz Khan and Devudutt Padikkal pushed India’s total beyond 400.
After bowling out the visitors for 218 on Day 1, Yashasvi Jaiswal resumed his red-hot form on Thursday, hitting 57 off just 58 balls to give India control of the game. Rohit and Shubaman then extended India’s lead with superb fifties.

Padikall scored 65 on his Test debut and completed his fifty with a six. India achieved a remarkable milestone when Padikkal scored 50 runs. It is the first occasion in red-ball cricket history that India’s top five hitters have scored 50 or more runs in a Test innings against England.

The last time India’s top five scored 50 runs or more against Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium was in December 2009. Only four times in Test cricket history have the top five Indian batsmen achieved this uncommon feat, and each time they faced different opponents.

Eight-year-old Gurgaon resident Viraj Katyayan won a silver medal in the inaugural UAE International Karate Open Championship, which took place in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. In this competition, which took place between February 16โ€“18, 2024, India managed to take home four gold, six silver, and fourteen bronze medals. Karan Khaturia, Viraj’s coach, has sent him best wishes for the future. He stated that Viraj will undoubtedly win a gold medal for the nation in the future because of his great potential at such a young age. Under the direction of Chief Mentor of India Karate team Bharat Sharma, KIO President Vijay Tiwari, and General Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Jangda, the Indian team competed in this event.

In addition, Mayank earned the silver medal in the cadet division’s 57 kg Individual Kumite weight category, while Deepika Dhiman won the gold medal in the senior division’s 61 kg weight category. The bronze medal winners for the nation were Senior Individual Kumite competitors Pranay Sharma (75 kg) and Ritika (68 kg), Junior Individual Kumite competitor Harshit Sharma (61 kg), Under-14 Individual Kumite competitor Toushi Sharma (52 kg), and 12-year-old Individual Kumite competitor Manisha (40 kg).

Gold medal was won by Tamil Nadu’s Dhev A Kishan, Uttar Pradesh’s Arham Khan, and Uttarakhand’s Sushil Singh. Ashvi Mohota of Maharashtra, Danushka Pratap of Tamil Nadu, and Sneha Banjare of Chhattisgarh all took home silver medals in the Kata-Kumite competition. Amitabh Singh Baghel and Meenakshi Kashyap of Madhya Pradesh, Vishi Vijay of Uttar Pradesh, Deep Vashishtha, Saanvi Memon, and Vrinda Memon of Haryana, and Chaitanya Seth, Ashvi Mohota, and Emmanuel Philip of Maharashtra won bronze medals.

During the Australia vs. Pakistan cricket test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, an eager cameraman captured an unsuspecting pair red-handed.

The two were hoping that by hiding out in the nosebleeds of the 100,000-seat stadium, they would go unnoticed as they, well, expressed themselves. However, a perceptive camera operator had a different notion.

The audience erupted with cheers as the camera focused on the couple during a clip that was shown on the MCG’s big screen. After the third day of play on Thursday, a video of the incident was shared on social media and rapidly gained the attention of even Australia’s greatest cricket players.

The vision depicts the couple’s horrified reaction upon realising they have been thrust onto the big screen. The young woman hastily leaped away, and her partner trotted down the stairs with his sweater covering his face, looking like he was walking in shame.

The young guy got “a standing ovation from the crowd” as he slithered out, according to SEN Cricket announcer Adam Collins.

“Obviously theyโ€™re not meant to be having a kiss and cuddle up there at the back of the Ponsford Stand and the whole crowd has risen as one to them,” he stated.

The duo was accused by Australians of “ball tampering” and “stroking one through the covers” after a viral video of the event went viral overnight.

“I was there today, and I thought this was hilarious,” someone commented.

Hardik Pandya May Miss 2-3 More World Cup Matches Due to Ankle Injury

India’s star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, is expected to remain sidelined for a few more matches due to an ankle injury. He missed the clash against New Zealand after sustaining the injury and is likely to sit out of India’s next two World Cup matches as he continues his recovery. The injury occurred when Pandya slipped in his follow-through while playing against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19. Although he reported to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for injury management, it appears that he won’t be able to join the team in Lucknow for the match against England as previously suggested by the BCCI.

According to an NCA source, Hardik Pandya is still undergoing medical treatment, and while the swelling on his left ankle has reduced significantly, he is expected to start bowling towards the weekend. The focus is on giving him the necessary time to fully recover. Since India has performed exceptionally well in the tournament, having won all five matches, there’s a strong likelihood that Pandya will be rested for the next two matches to ensure his complete recovery for the knockout stage.

A BCCI source added that Pandya has suffered a severe sprain but fortunately not a fracture. The medical team of BCCI is taking maximum precautions to ensure his fitness. He is expected to miss the next two to three matches, with the team’s priority being his readiness for the knockout stage.

In Pandya’s absence, players like Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami stepped into the playing XI against New Zealand. It’s likely that they will retain their places in the team for the upcoming matches against England and Sri Lanka. India is in a strong position to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

Australia, led by outstanding performances from Adam Zampa, Josh Inglis, and Mitchell Marsh, revived their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign with a commanding five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Monday.

The leg-spinner Adam Zampa was the star with four crucial wickets, restricting Sri Lanka to 209 despite notable half-centuries from Kusal Perera (78) and Pathum Nissanka (61).

Sri Lanka, initially poised for a 300-plus total, suffered a dramatic batting collapse, losing all ten wickets for a mere 84 runs.

In response, Josh Inglis (58), marking his first World Cup half-century, alongside Mitchell Marsh (52) and Marnus Labuschagne (40), led Australia to surpass the target in just 35.2 overs, significantly improving their net run rate.

This victory propelled Australia to the eighth position in the tournament standings, marking their first win of the competition. Conversely, the defeat dimmed Sri Lanka’s hopes of advancing to the semifinals as they now occupy the ninth spot with three losses in as many games.

Dilshan Madushanka (3/38) defended a below-par total, delivering a fiery spell and dismissing key players like David Warner and Steve Smith. Marsh adopted an aggressive approach, reaching his half-century but was dismissed by a sharp throw from Chamika Karunaratne.
