CIC Commissioner and Senior Journalist Ashutosh Chaturvedi Applauded for Fearless Journalism and Ethical Values

Shri Ashutosh Chaturvedi, eminent senior journalist and Central Information Commission (CIC) Commissioner, Government of India was honoured for his outstanding contribution to independent, fearless and public-interest journalism spanning more than four decades.

Chaturvedi is known for his commitment to truth, integrity and people-centric reporting and has played a significant role in shaping Hindi journalism across print, television and digital platforms.

During his long and distinguished media career, he held key editorial and reporting responsibilities at several leading media organisations, including Prabhat Khabar, Amar Ujala, Maya, India Today, Sunday Observer, Dainik Jagran and BBC London. He also covered several important national and international assignments and reported on foreign visits of the President of India and other senior dignitaries.

Chaturvedi is also widely recognised for his contribution to Hindi digital journalism. His role in the launch of the BBC Hindi website is considered a landmark contribution in the evolution of Hindi digital media.

The honour was presented by Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, President of the Accredited Journalists Association and Editor-in-Chief of Rashtra Times, who felicitated him with a shawl, memento and commemorative souvenir.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi said Ashutosh Chaturvedi has set a remarkable example of journalism rooted in fairness, courage and ethical values throughout his career. He noted that at a time when the media industry is facing multiple challenges, senior journalists like Ashutosh Chaturvedi continue to inspire the younger generation.

He further said that Ashutosh Chaturvedi’s contribution towards maintaining the credibility and dignity of the fourth pillar of democracy has been highly significant. By consistently highlighting issues related to public welfare and national interest, he has strengthened the core ideals of responsible journalism.
