Senior government officials, energy experts and community leaders to review Varanasi’s renewable energy achievements, honour contributors, and outline future strategies for accelerating India’s clean energy transition.
Varanasi, 14 November 2025
Varanasi is set to become the centre of India’s clean energy dialogue on 16 November, as government representatives, renewable energy experts, bank officials, customers, and community leaders gather at Hotel Castillo for a landmark Sun King event. The programme aims to evaluate the city’s rapid progress in adopting solar energy while mapping out the next phase of the region’s renewable energy journey.
The meeting will serve as a convergence point for key stakeholders from the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), along with partner banks, field teams, technical staff, and Sun King beneficiaries who have significantly contributed to the ground-level success of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Varanasi.
A major highlight of the event will be the recognition of families and customers who not only embraced solar power in their homes but also encouraged widespread adoption within their neighbourhoods. Their leadership has played a vital role in boosting the momentum of clean energy initiatives across the district.
Discussions will focus on Sun King’s renewable energy installations across Varanasi, the measurable benefits experienced by consumers, operational partnerships with local authorities, and the strategies shaping sustainable energy access in both urban and semi-urban areas. Stakeholders will also deliberate on future plans, including strengthening technical capacity, expanding solar outreach, and enhancing customer support systems.
As India accelerates its shift toward renewable power, this event underscores Varanasi’s growing role as a frontrunner in the national clean energy movement. The gathering will serve not only as an acknowledgment of past achievements but also as a commitment to advancing a greener, more secure, and future-ready energy ecosystem for the region and the country.
