New Delhi: Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi Note 17 lineup in India with two new smartphones, the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G. The company is focusing heavily on battery life, display quality, durability and long-term software support with the new models.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at ₹36,999, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max starts at ₹49,999. The Pro model will go on sale from September 17, while the Pro Max will reach customers from September 23. Both smartphones will be sold through Xiaomi’s online and retail channels, including Amazon India.
The Pro Max is the bigger talking point because it packs a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 100W HyperCharge, a 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset. Xiaomi also gives the phone Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and multiple IP ratings for water and dust protection.

The company is also offering launch benefits on eligible purchases. Depending on the payment method and eligibility, customers can get savings of up to ₹5,000 through selected bank offers. The effective price can therefore be lower than the listed retail price.
Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max: Sale Dates
The two smartphones will not go on sale on the same day.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro will be available from September 17, 2026, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will go on sale from September 23, 2026.
Customers can purchase the phones through Amazon India, Xiaomi’s website and Xiaomi retail channels.
Redmi Note 17 Pro Max: 10,000mAh Battery Is the Biggest Highlight
The biggest feature of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is its battery.
The phone packs a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which Xiaomi says can deliver more than four days of typical light usage based on its internal laboratory testing. Real-world battery life will depend on factors such as network conditions, screen brightness, apps and usage patterns.
The battery supports 100W HyperCharge and 27W wired reverse charging. This allows users to use the phone as a power source for compatible devices when required.
Despite the large battery, Xiaomi has kept the phone relatively slim at 8.57mm. The handset weighs around 229 grams.
Stronger Protection With Gorilla Glass Victus 2
Xiaomi has also focused on durability.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. Xiaomi says the phone can withstand water exposure of up to two metres for 72 hours under its stated testing conditions. It also lists a 3-metre drop rating certified by SGS.
The company has also highlighted its Titan Structure and TÜV SÜD 5-Star Titan Quality Certification, which covers areas including drop resistance, water resistance and battery health.
These ratings make the Pro Max particularly focused on durability, although users should still follow Xiaomi’s stated conditions rather than treating an IP rating as a guarantee against every type of water or impact damage.
6.83-Inch 120Hz AMOLED Display
Both smartphones feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The screen has a resolution of 1,280 x 2,772 pixels and can reach up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. The Pro Max also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Xiaomi lists 12-bit colour depth and 100% DCI-P3 coverage for the display.
The 120Hz refresh rate should make everyday scrolling and animations look smoother. The larger screen can also benefit users who frequently watch videos, browse social media or play games.
The phones also feature Wet Touch 2.0, which is designed to improve touch response when the screen or user’s fingers are wet.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Powers the Pro Max
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset. The 4nm processor reaches clock speeds of up to 2.6GHz and is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage.
Xiaomi has also included an IceLoop cooling system to help manage temperatures during demanding tasks.
For software, the phone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3. Xiaomi promises four years of OS updates and six years of security updates, which means the company plans to support the phone through 2032.
50MP OIS Camera and 32MP Selfie Camera
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a dual-camera system at the back.
It includes a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Optical image stabilisation can help reduce the effect of hand movement while taking photographs or recording videos.
The phone also features a 32MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It supports 4K video recording, with Xiaomi also highlighting AI-powered camera and editing features.
Interestingly, Xiaomi has focused more on the overall camera experience this time rather than simply increasing megapixel numbers. The main camera also supports portrait features and AI-based image tools.
Redmi Note 17 Pro Gets a Smaller Battery but Similar Display
The standard Redmi Note 17 Pro sits below the Pro Max but still offers a large battery and a high-end display.
It comes with a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and supports 67W charging. It also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging.
The phone has the same 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display and runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3.
For performance, Xiaomi uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. The phone comes with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.
Redmi Note 17 Pro Camera Setup
The standard Pro model also gets a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
However, the front camera is different from the Pro Max. The Redmi Note 17 Pro gets a 16MP selfie camera, while the Pro Max features a 32MP front camera.
This means the two phones share much of their rear-camera setup, but the Pro Max gets the more powerful selfie camera.

At launch, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max starts at ₹49,999, which puts it in the same starting-price territory as the Google Pixel 10a in India. Google launched the Pixel 10a at ₹49,999 for its 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration.
However, the two phones take very different approaches.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a much larger 6.83-inch 120Hz display and a 10,000mAh battery with 100W charging. The Pixel 10a has a smaller 6.3-inch display, a 5,100mAh battery and Google’s Tensor G4 processor.
The Pixel 10a, on the other hand, offers seven years of Android and security updates, while Xiaomi promises four years of OS updates and six years of security updates for the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.
The camera hardware also differs. The Pixel 10a uses a 48MP main camera and 13MP ultra-wide camera, while the Redmi Pro Max has a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor.
So, on paper, the Redmi puts more emphasis on battery capacity, charging speed, display size and durability, while Google’s phone focuses on its compact design, Tensor-powered features and longer software-support period.
