Since its debut on May 1, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” has been dominating entertainment discussions. Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, and Sanjeeda Sheikh are garnering praise for their roles in the Netflix series. However, Sharmin Segal, portraying Alamzeb, has faced criticism from some online users, alleging nepotism due to her connection as the niece of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Responding to the negativity, Sharmin disabled comments on her Instagram post featuring herself and Bhansali at the Los Angeles premiere of “Heeramandi.”

Sharmin Segal made her debut in the film industry with the 2019 movie “Malaal,” produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bhansali Productions. During the trailer launch of “Malaal,” Sharmin discussed nepotism, acknowledging its presence in every field. She stated that while having connections in the film industry might make it easier to get the first opportunity, hard work is essential, and one should not misuse the opportunity.
In addition to “Malaal” and the upcoming “Heeramandi,” Sharmin Sehgal also appeared in the 2022 film “Atithi Bhooto Bhava,” which starred Pratik Gandhi and Jackie Shroff in prominent roles.
