Launching February 20, 2026, the Tata Punch EV Facelift brings sharper design, bigger touchscreen, improved features, dual battery options, up to 421km range, and competitive pricing starting around ₹10 lakh.
New Delhi: Tata Motors is preparing to launch the updated 2026 Tata Punch EV Facelift, giving its popular compact electric SUV a fresh look and more features. The original Punch EV was launched in January 2024 and received a strong response. This mid-cycle update brings small design changes, improved interior technology, and continues with the same reliable electric powertrain options. Tata currently holds more than 70% share in India’s EV market, and this facelift is aimed at strengthening its position as demand for electric vehicles continues to grow.
Launch Date and Pricing: What to Expect
Tata Motors will officially launch the Tata Punch EV Facelift on February 20, 2026. The company will likely open pre-bookings soon after the launch and may begin deliveries in March. Tata Motors is expected to price the SUV at around ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top variants going up to ₹15 lakh. With this pricing, the company will increase the cost by about ₹30,000–₹50,000 compared to the current model, which it sells between ₹9.99 lakh and ₹14.44 lakh.
Tata may keep the prices of some lower variants unchanged. State EV benefits, such as Delhi’s ₹1.5 lakh subsidy, will further reduce the overall cost for buyers. The Punch EV is also likely to maintain running costs of under ₹1 per kilometre.
The launch also matches India’s EV policy push, including schemes like FAME III, and comes at a time when petrol prices in Delhi are around ₹95 per litre. This makes the Punch EV a practical and economical option for daily city travel.
Exterior Design: Sharper and More Modern
The facelift mainly focuses on design improvements while keeping the overall body structure unchanged.
Key exterior changes:
- Redesigned front and rear bumpers
- Closed front grille design
- Full-width LED light strip at the front
- Connected LED tail lamps at the rear
- New 16-inch aero-style alloy wheels
- New colour options including “Cosmic” red
- Ground clearance remains 187mm
The SUV now looks sharper, more modern, and more in line with global EV styling trends.
Interior Upgrades: Tech-Focused Cabin
Inside, the cabin layout remains familiar but now includes more advanced features. The highlight is a larger 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a new interface. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and includes the arcade.ev entertainment suite. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is also provided.
Comfort features include ventilated front seats, a voice-enabled electric sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system with a subwoofer. The updated iRA 2.0 system allows over-the-air (OTA) updates, remote pre-conditioning, and access to a 360-degree camera.
Charging support includes 65W Type-C ports in the front, 15W ports at the rear, and wireless phone charging. The facelift will be available in multiple variants such as Smart, Pure, Adventure, Empowered, and the new Accomplished+ trim, with up to nine total options.
Powertrain and Performance: Proven Electric Efficiency
The Punch EV Facelift continues with the Acti.ev platform and offers two battery options: a 25kWh Medium Range and a 35kWh Long Range. Both versions use a front-mounted electric motor. The 25kWh version produces 82hp and 114Nm torque, while the 35kWh version delivers 122hp and 190Nm torque.
The 0–100 km/h time is 13.5 seconds for the standard battery and 9.5 seconds for the Long Range version. The claimed range is 315km (MIDC) for the 25kWh variant and 421km for the 35kWh version. In real-world driving conditions, the Tata Punch EV is expected to deliver a range between 265km and 365km, based on ARAI-certified estimates.
Charging options include 3.3kW and 7.2kW AC wall box chargers, along with 50kW DC fast charging. With fast charging, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 56 minutes. Multiple regenerative braking modes help improve overall efficiency.
Safety: Comprehensive Protection
Safety remains a strong point. The Punch EV Facelift comes with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESP), hill hold assist, all-wheel disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and intelligent tyre pressure monitoring (iTPMS).
Other features include a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and front and rear fog lamps. Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane assist are expected, but official confirmation is still awaited.
The structure is based on the ICE Punch platform, which has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, ensuring strong crash protection.
Market Position and Rivals: A Strong Contender
In its segment, the Tata Punch EV Facelift competes with models like the Citroen eC3 and upcoming options such as the Kia Syros EV. The original Punch EV sold over 15,000 units in 2025, showing strong demand.
Tata Motors has designed this facelift for city buyers who want low running costs and environmentally friendly driving. The company has also included it in its larger EV strategy, which features upcoming models like the Tata Sierra EV. As India targets 30% EV sales by 2030, the updated Punch EV can play an important role in making electric vehicles more affordable and practical for daily use.
Social media is already buzzing with spy images and teaser videos, with many buyers excited about the updated design and improved range. As electric vehicles become more popular, the Tata Punch EV Facelift aims to set new standards for value, features, and performance in its category.
