New Delhi: HRDS INDIA Condemns Protest Violence, Attacks on Police; Reaffirms Commitment to Rule of Law and Democracy
HRDS INDIA has expressed deep concern over the incidents of violence, vandalism and injuries to security personnel during the recent Gen Z-led protests in the national capital. The organisation strongly condemned attacks on police personnel, destruction of public and private property, and any actions that threaten peace and public order.
According to official statements by Delhi Police, a section of protesters engaged in aggressive and unlawful activities, including stone-pelting, attacks on security personnel and damage to official vehicles. Several police officers, including senior officials and women personnel, were injured during the unrest.
HRDS INDIA reiterated that while peaceful protests and democratic expression are fundamental rights in a constitutional democracy, violence, vandalism and attacks on law enforcement agencies cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The organisation emphasised that the rule of law remains the foundation of democracy and public order. It called for a fair investigation into individuals or groups responsible for violent activities and stressed that accountability must be ensured according to legal provisions.
HRDS INDIA reaffirmed its faith in democratic institutions, Delhi Police and the governance framework under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to protect constitutional values, public safety and national unity. The organisation urged citizens to reject violence, respect democratic processes and resolve differences through peaceful dialogue.
