Minister Jual Oram Inaugurates Landmark Event on Regenerative Medicine and Neurorestoratology
Over 500 Experts from India and Abroad Gather to Shape the Future of Cellular Therapy and Healthcare Policy
The 17th Annual Conference of the International Association of Neurorestoratology (IANR), held jointly with the 7th Annual Conference of the Society of Regenerative Sciences (India), commenced today at The Ashok Hotel, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The two-day event (October 17–18, 2025) brings together more than 500 doctors, scientists, and patient representatives from India and across the globe to deliberate on cutting-edge developments in regenerative medicine and neurorestoratology.
Minister Jual Oram Champions Innovation, Advocates for Inclusion of Cell Therapy in Ayushman Bharat
Shri Jual Oram, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, inaugurated the conference, emphasizing the transformative power of scientific innovation in reshaping India’s healthcare landscape. He lauded Indian researchers for their pioneering contributions in regenerative medicine and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting advanced medical research.
He stated, “I will request Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to include cell therapy for Divyang citizens under Ayushman Bharat, ensuring these pathbreaking treatments reach those who need them most.”
Health Minister J.P. Nadda: ‘India Emerging as Global Leader in Regenerative Medicine’
In a special video address, Shri J.P. Nadda, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, congratulated the organizers and participants, saying:
“India is emerging as a global leader in regenerative medicine, with our doctors leading advancements in stem cell and cellular therapies. Such conferences foster collaboration, inspire young professionals, and deliver real solutions for patients suffering from neurological and orthopedic disorders.”
Focus on Cellular Therapy: A Game-Changer for Millions of Divyang Citizens
The conference highlights regenerative medicine using cellular therapy — a rapidly evolving approach that restores damaged tissues and improves recovery in patients with neurological, orthopedic, and other chronic disorders.
Experts emphasized that, with over 2.68 crore Divyang citizens in India, cellular therapies could revolutionize treatment access and quality of life for those once deemed untreatable. Notably, India now records the largest number of global scientific publications in neurological regenerative research.
Dr. Alok Sharma: ‘India Leads the World in Regenerative Medicine Research’
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alok Sharma, representing the Society of Regenerative Sciences, said:
“Our work in regenerative medicine using cellular therapy offers hope to patients with no other treatment options. India leads globally in research, and with continued government support, we can make these therapies accessible under Ayushman Bharat.”
Dr. Sharma was also nominated as the President of IANR for 2025, marking a proud moment for Indian medical research.
Global Collaboration: India Ahead of China in Regenerative Medicine, Says Dr. Hongyun Huang
Dr. Hongyun Huang, Founding President of IANR, applauded India’s leadership and commitment to advancing neurorestoratology.
He remarked, “The goal of neural research is to restore neurological function, improve patients’ quality of life, and extend longevity. India is more advanced than China in regenerative medicine — a testament to its scientific excellence.”
Delegates from the USA, China, Poland, South Korea, Argentina, Hong Kong, and several other countries are attending the conference, reflecting strong global collaboration.
Call to Action: Experts and Patients Appeal for Policy Inclusion
Doctors, researchers, and patient representatives jointly appealed to the Government of India to include cellular therapies for neurological, orthopedic, and other incurable conditions under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), ensuring affordable access for all.
Looking Ahead: Day 2 to Feature Policy Dialogues and Global Research Presentations
The conference continues tomorrow, October 18, with thematic sessions, policy discussions, and international presentations focused on the clinical translation and regulatory frameworks shaping the future of regenerative and restorative medicine.
