Caught on Camera: Kerala Man’s Uncomfortable Stare Goes Viral

4 September 2025, New Delhi

A video shared on Instagram by a woman from Kerala has sparked widespread outrage after she alleged that a man sitting beside her on a bus kept staring at her chest. The woman, who was dressed in a traditional white-and-golden Kerala saree paired with a red blouse to celebrate Onam, posted the video to highlight that “dress is never part of the problem.” In the clip, the man seated next to her can be seen repeatedly glancing in her direction. At one point, when the woman stares back at him, he briefly looks away but resumes the same behaviour moments later. According to her, he only got up and left after she confronted him.

The incident has triggered sharp reactions on social media, where several users came forward to support her. Many praised her courage in recording the video and exposing the man publicly, pointing out that not all women feel safe or able to respond in such situations. One user commented that her decision was a smart move, as it ensures people will recognise him if he tries such behaviour again. Others noted that by sharing the video, she has made it clear that harassment has nothing to do with clothing choices, challenging the common victim-blaming narrative.

Some users also dismissed arguments claiming the man was looking at her phone, saying the difference in angles made his actions obvious. They argued that defending such behaviour only normalises harassment and called out those making excuses for him. Another user wrote that it was disturbing to see people still justifying the man’s actions, adding that “perverts don’t deserve excuses.”

The video has further reignited conversations around everyday harassment faced by women in public spaces. Commenters highlighted how women are often told to dress “modestly” to avoid attention, but the incident underlines that the problem lies with the mindset of men who choose to harass, not with women’s clothing. One user sarcastically remarked, “Oh God… this is so uncomfortable. Why are you wearing a saree blouse? Wear a straitjacket instead. But even then, men will still harass you simply because you are a woman.” The video has not been independently verified, but the outrage it has generated reflects the growing frustration over women’s safety and the persistence of victim-blaming attitudes in society.
