HRDS India Files Police Complaint Against Robert Vadra Over Remarks on Pahalgam Terror Attack

NGO accuses Congress leader of making provocative statements that allegedly justify April 22 terror killings in Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi: In a serious development, HRDS India has filed a formal police complaint against businessman and Congress leader Robert Vadra for his alleged remarks concerning the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The complaint was submitted at the Lodhi Colony Police Station by HRDS India’s Secretary, Mr. Aji Krishnan.

According to the complaint, Vadra made controversial statements that appeared to justify the brutal terrorist attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians lost their lives. The nation was left in shock after the incident, which drew widespread condemnation from leaders around the world.

HRDS India has accused Vadra of delivering an “anti-national statement,” suggesting that the massacre was a result of the alleged insecurity faced by Muslims in India. The complaint quotes Vadra as saying, “The attack was a message to the Prime Minister,” which, according to the organization, implies that terrorism was a response to the communal climate within the country.

Further, the complaint alleges that Vadra criticized the government’s emphasis on Hindutva and surveillance of religious sites, particularly mosques. “This government only talks about Hindutva. It surveys mosques and interferes in religious matters. The attackers targeted people based on their religion. The reason for this is the divide between Hindus and Muslims in this country,” Vadra reportedly stated.

He also allegedly cited issues such as the restriction of Muslim religious practices, bans on loudspeakers at mosques, and crackdowns on public gatherings—especially in areas like Delhi’s Jama Masjid—as factors that have contributed to a sense of vulnerability among minorities.

HRDS India has condemned these remarks as an indirect justification for terrorism and a grave attempt to disrupt national harmony. The organization believes Vadra’s statements amount to the promotion of communal disharmony and an endorsement of violent extremism.

The complaint calls on authorities to take stringent legal action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, citing Vadra’s alleged incitement of communal unrest and justification of a terror act.

Reiterating its commitment to peace and unity, HRDS India urged all public figures to speak responsibly, particularly at a time when the nation is mourning and seeking justice for the victims.
