Partnership aims to reduce landfill waste through scientific treatment and resource recovery across rural India
New Delhi: HRDS INDIA, a registered non-governmental organisation working for the overall development of rural and tribal communities across India, has signed a landmark agreement with Zero Landfill Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to launch a Joint Social-Impact Programme focused on sustainable waste management.
Zero Landfill Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is a technology-driven waste management company that develops innovative and sustainable solutions for waste processing. Under the agreement, both organisations will work together to explore the use of advanced waste management systems based on Thermal Decomposition Technology.
The proposed approach aims to support the scientific treatment of suitable types of waste across more than 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats in Bharat. The initiative seeks to reduce dependence on traditional landfill disposal and encourage environmentally responsible waste treatment and resource recovery.
Thermal decomposition is a process that breaks down waste materials at high temperatures in a controlled, low-oxygen environment. Depending on the type of waste used and the design of the system, the process can produce useful outputs such as fuel and carbon-rich residue.
The partnership reflects the shared commitment of HRDS INDIA and Zero Landfill Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to tackle the growing challenges of solid waste management in rural areas through technology, sustainability, and community-focused action.
As part of the collaboration, the organisations will identify suitable waste-management projects in rural areas, study local waste-management needs, and develop solutions that follow all applicable environmental, technical, and regulatory standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Aji Krishnan, Founder Secretary of HRDS INDIA, said:
“This agreement marks an important step towards strengthening sustainable waste management at the Gram Panchayat level and promoting innovative solutions that can benefit communities and the environment. HRDS INDIA is committed to working with responsible technology partners to support cleaner and healthier communities.”
Shri V. Dandapani, Founder of Zero Landfill Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and a Boston, USA-based engineer and waste management and sustainability consultant, said: “We are pleased to partner with HRDS INDIA. Together, we hope to contribute to the adoption of scientific, efficient, and sustainable waste-management practices across the panchayats in Bharat.”
The joint initiative highlights the commitment of both organisations to creating cleaner and healthier rural communities. It also supports India’s broader efforts towards environmental sustainability, better waste management, and efficient use of resources.
