Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is reportedly showing signs of improvement and is currently in a stable condition. She was admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late Sunday night following complaints of abdominal discomfort. She is under the care of the hospital’s Surgical Gastroenterology department.

According to the hospital’s official medical bulletin, 78-year-old Gandhi is being closely monitored by a team of medical experts. Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, confirmed that she was admitted around 9 PM and placed under observation after preliminary assessments.

This marks Sonia Gandhi’s second hospital visit this month. On June 7, she was taken to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla for an MRI scan after experiencing uneasiness. At that time, her blood pressure was slightly elevated, but her condition stabilized soon after.

Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stated that Gandhi was taken to the hospital as part of a routine medical check-up. Upon receiving news of her health, CM Sukhu curtailed his scheduled visit to Una and returned to Shimla immediately.

Sonia Gandhi has a history of gastrointestinal issues. She was also admitted to Ganga Ram Hospital in February for a day under medical supervision for similar concerns.

In September 2022, Gandhi traveled to the United States for a specialized medical check-up, accompanied by her son and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. During that period, she missed a significant portion of the Parliament’s monsoon session.

Currently, doctors continue to monitor her condition closely. Meanwhile, party leaders and supporters across the country are expressing hope and prayers for her speedy recovery.
