Larry Ellison's Meteoric Rise: Becomes World’s Second-Richest Person, Surpasses Zuckerberg and Bezos

Oracle’s stellar quarterly results, AI ventures, and strategic alliances boost Ellison’s wealth by $66.8 billion

15 June 2025, New Delhi

Oracle Corporation’s co-founder and Chairman, Larry Ellison, has once again asserted his formidable presence in the global business arena. Following Oracle’s better-than-expected quarterly results released on June 13, 2025, the company’s stock surged by nearly 7%, propelling Ellison to the second position on the list of the world’s richest individuals.

According to Forbes Real-Time Billionaires Index, Ellison’s net worth now stands at $258.8 billion, pushing him ahead of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, retains the top spot with a net worth of $410.8 billion.

$66 Billion Growth in Just Two Months

Back in April 2025, Ellison ranked fourth on Forbes’ annual billionaire list with a net worth of $192 billion. However, within just two months, a sharp surge in Oracle’s stock—driven by technological breakthroughs and positive investor sentiment—resulted in a remarkable $66.8 billion increase in his wealth.

AI Dominance Through ‘Project Stargate’

Oracle’s recent gains are credited to its strategic and technological initiatives, notably its involvement in Project Stargate — a major AI development initiative in collaboration with OpenAI and SoftBank, backed by the U.S. government. The project aims to establish America’s global leadership in artificial intelligence and is considered a key part of former President Donald Trump’s tech vision.

At 80 years old, Ellison remains active as Oracle’s Chairman and Chief Technology Officer and has been vocal about the future of AI. He recently stated that, “AI will usher in a new era of surveillance, helping shape public behavior through continuous recording and reporting.”

Strengthening Oracle’s Position in Health Tech

Under Ellison’s leadership, Oracle has made several landmark acquisitions — the most notable being the $28.3 billion acquisition of health-tech firm Cerner in 2021. This move significantly strengthened Oracle’s footprint in the healthcare technology space.

Larry Ellison’s rapid ascent in the billionaire ranks underscores his visionary leadership, strategic investments in technology, and long-term global partnerships.
More importantly, it reflects a broader trend — that technology and artificial intelligence will increasingly shape the future of global wealth and leadership in the years to come.
