A Global Stand Against Terrorism
PM Modi underscored the urgency for strict international measures against nations that support terrorism. Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, he called it “an assault not just on a nation, but on the entire humanity.” He thanked the global community for standing in solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism and emphasized that such incidents are a direct threat to civilization itself.
Championing the Global South Amid Global Conflicts
Amid ongoing global instability, including the Iran-Israel conflict, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to voicing the concerns of the Global South. “These conflicts have the most severe impact on developing nations,” he noted. He reaffirmed India’s role as a bridge, bringing the challenges and aspirations of the Global South to the world stage.
Energy Security for the Future
During a dedicated session on energy security, PM Modi thanked Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for the invitation and congratulated G7 on its 50th anniversary. He stressed that energy security is not just a present concern but a defining challenge for future generations. Highlighting India’s energy policy built on the four pillars of Availability, Accessibility, Affordability, and Acceptability, he reaffirmed India’s commitment to inclusive development.
India’s Role in Sustainable Development
Describing India as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, PM Modi said the country has already achieved its commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement ahead of schedule. He showcased India’s global green initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, Global Biofuel Alliance, One Sun One World One Grid, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, emphasizing India’s leadership in climate action.
