Jaipur Gears Up for the 78th Indian Army Day Celebrations
The Indian Army will celebrate its 78th Army Day on January 15, 2026, commemorating the historic day when Lt Gen KM Cariappa took office as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in 1949.
This year’s celebrations are special, as Jaipur, Rajasthan, hosts the main Army Day Parade for the first time outside the Delhi-NCR region. Soldiers and organizers are in full swing at Mahal Road, Jagatpura, conducting a successful full-dress rehearsal on January 9, 2026, which highlights the army’s discipline, strength, and modern capabilities.
Alongside the parade, the “Know Your Army” exhibition runs from January 8 to January 12, 2026. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the exhibition, which showcases traditional martial arts, equestrian performances, and advanced military technology. Visitors can explore and experience the life and work of the Indian Army up close.
Hosting the Army Day celebrations in Jaipur aims to increase public participation and spread awareness about the army’s role in protecting the nation.
A Strong Message of Culture, Knowledge, and National Pride
The opening of the New Delhi World Book Fair with its armed forces theme, alongside the Army Day preparations in Jaipur, creates a powerful message of unity. While the book fair encourages people to explore ideas, stories, and creativity, the Army Day events remind the nation of the courage and sacrifice that safeguard these freedoms.
As January 2026 progresses, these celebrations together reflect India’s enduring values of knowledge, valor, unity, and cultural richness.
