India has categorically denied Pakistan’s assertions of having destroyed its S-400 air defense system and damaging airbases in Sirsa and Surat. During a press briefing on Operation Sindoor, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri labeled these claims as “false and baseless,” attributing them to a deliberate misinformation campaign by Pakistan.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi highlighted that India had thwarted multiple infiltration attempts by Pakistani forces at over 26 locations, emphasizing the country’s commitment to safeguarding its borders. She noted that Pakistani troops have been persistently attacking India’s western borders using drones, long-range weapons, and fighter jets targeting military installations.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that the Pakistani army has been moving its troops toward forward positions, suggesting an intention to escalate tensions. She confirmed that the Indian armed forces are on high alert, effectively countering and responding in a measured manner to all hostile actions.

Multiple explosions were reported early Saturday in Jammu, Srinagar, and Udhampur, while Pakistani shelling in Rajouri claimed the life of Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah later visited affected areas and Thapa’s residence to offer condolences.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the closure of 32 airports for all civil flight operations until 5:29 am on May 15. The Airports Authority of India also extended the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions due to operational reasons.

On May 7, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ with targeted strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh informed that at least 100 terrorists were killed in the operation.

As tensions escalate, both nations have expressed a willingness to de-escalate, provided the other reciprocates. International actors, including the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the G7, have urged both countries to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic solutions.
