Self-styled ‘Dhanvarsha Baba’ Kamruddin arrested in Delhi triple murder: Poisoned 3 victims with laced laddoos, robbed ₹2 lakh after fake tantric ritual. Peeragarhi flyover case details.
New Delhi: In a chilling case that initially baffled investigators, Delhi Police have arrested a 72-year-old self-styled godman, Kamruddin alias ‘Dhanvarsha Baba’, for the premeditated murder of three people whose bodies were discovered in a parked car near the Peeragarhi flyover in outer Delhi.
Discovery of Bodies
The grim discovery was made on Sunday, February 8, 2026, around 3:50 PM, after a PCR call from passersby alerted police to three individuals lying unconscious inside a locked white Tigor car in the service lane near the Peeragarhi flyover. There were no visible external injuries, signs of struggle, or ligature marks on the bodies.
Police recovered several items from the vehicle, including a plastic bottle and glasses with traces of poison, liquor bottles, cold drink bottles, empty glasses, mobile phones, cash, helmets, jackets, Aadhaar cards, and other personal documents.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as:
- Randhir Singh, 76, a property dealer from Nangli Dairy/Ranhaula area, found in the driver’s seat (he owned the car).
- Shiv Naresh Singh (also referred to as Shiv Narayan or Naresh Singh), 47, a property dealer from Baprola, found in the passenger seat.
- Laxmi Devi (also reported as Lakshmi), 40, a resident of Jahangirpuri, found in the back seat.
Initial Probe: Suicide Suspicion
Investigators initially treated the case as a possible suicide pact due to the absence of external injuries and the presence of poison traces in the recovered items. However, detailed examination quickly shifted focus.
Breakthrough: From Suicide to Murder
Further probe, including CCTV footage analysis, call detail records, and victim communication tracing, revealed it was a planned murder. CCTV captured Kamruddin sitting in the front passenger seat with the victims earlier on February 8. The trio had been in contact with him for about a year, with visits to his tantric centre in Loni, Ghaziabad (and possibly Firozabad) a day prior and on the incident day.
Accused: Kamruddin alias ‘Dhanvarsha Baba’
Kamruddin, a resident of Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, operated a so-called tantric centre in Loni, Ghaziabad. Described as a self-styled godman, maulana, or tantrik, he is a habitual offender with prior involvement in two murder cases and a similar incident in Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Police picked him up from Ghaziabad on February 9 and formally arrested him on February 11.
Motive and Method of Crime
The motive was financial gain through robbery. Kamruddin lured the victims with promises of ‘Dhanvarsha’ — a supernatural ritual to shower wealth or double/triple their money via tantric powers. He convinced them to bring ₹2 lakh in cash for the ritual.
Laxmi Devi was introduced to him by a person named Salim from Jahangirpuri and later brought the two property dealers.
As part of the sham ritual during the return journey from Loni to Delhi, Kamruddin prepared and served laddoos mixed with poison, along with liquor and cold drinks. He boarded the car, waited for the victims to become unconscious, abandoned the vehicle near the Peeragarhi flyover, and fled with the ₹2 lakh cash and other valuables.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer Delhi) Sachin Sharma described it as a “well-planned conspiracy” for financial gains, noting Kamruddin’s pattern of gaining trust, mentally influencing victims, and then poisoning them before robbing.
Police Investigation and Statements
The case was cracked through technical surveillance, field investigation, CCTV verification, and questioning. Police ruled out suicide definitively after these findings. Legal proceedings for murder charges are underway.
This sensational case highlights the dangers posed by fraudulent self-styled godmen who exploit superstitions and vulnerability for criminal ends. Delhi Police continue to verify additional details.
