DD Kisan to Highlight Stories of Resilient Women Farmers on Women Farmers’ Day

On 15th October, DD Kisan will air a special program celebrating the struggles, achievements, and inspiring journeys of women farmers, featuring cultural performances and eminent personalities from agriculture.

In celebration of Women Farmers’ Day on 15th October, DD Kisan will broadcast a special program honoring the dedication, perseverance, and success of India’s progressive women farmers. This year marks the tenth observance of Women Farmers’ Day, which was first celebrated in 2016.

The recording of the program at the DD Kisan studio witnessed the presence of several dignitaries and agricultural experts who extended their greetings and best wishes to the women farmers. Attendees included Prasar Bharati Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal, CEO Gaurav Dwivedi, Doordarshan Director General K. Satish Nambudripad, DD Kisan Deputy Director Lokman Singh, and Deputy Director & Program Head Rajkumar Nahar.

The program will showcase inspiring stories of women who have made remarkable contributions to agriculture, including Padma Shri Rajkumari Devi (Kisan Chachi), Padma Shri Kamatchi Chellammal (Nariyal Amma), Vimala Sinwar, India’s first “Namo Drone Didi,” agricultural entrepreneur Annu Kanawat, Padma Shri Janak Palta, renowned for her work in energy conservation, and Renu Sangwan, recognized for her pioneering work in dairy farming.

Adding a cultural dimension to the program, Padma Shri Gulabo Sapera will perform a vibrant Kalbelia folk dance, bringing the rich traditions of Rajasthani culture to life and celebrating its global appeal.

This special broadcast aims to recognize, honor, and inspire women farmers across India, highlighting their role in transforming agriculture and strengthening rural communities.
