New Delhi: Defence strategists, telecom experts and academics discussed the future of software-defined communications, space networks and next-generation connectivity at a high-level Round Table Conference held at Taramandal Conference Hall, MERI Delhi Campus.
The MERI Department of Space Studies, MERI Group of Institutions and Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) jointly organised the conference. The discussions focused on the growing convergence of 5G, 6G, Direct-to-Device (D2D) connectivity, space networks and multi-orbit systems.
The speakers examined how software-defined communication systems can strengthen communication resilience and support national security and future defence operations.
Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President of MERI Group of Institutions, delivered the introductory address. Lt Gen PJS Pannu delivered the thematic address and discussed the strategic importance of software-defined architectures in future multi-domain operations.
Technical sessions covered several areas linked to emerging communication technologies. Shri Vipin Tyagi, Former ED and CEO of C-DOT, spoke about software-defined communications across 5G, 6G and space networks.
Col Bharat Gupta discussed Direct-to-Device connectivity, spectrum management and border security, while Brig (Dr) Navjot Singh Bedi, Professor at Sharda University, addressed the role of multi-orbit space systems.
Lt Gen PJS Pannu chaired the concluding Round Table Discussion. The event ended with closing remarks and a Vote of Thanks by Air Cmde Himanshu Gopal.
