Former DGP-Ranked Officer R.K. Mishra Leads Peaceful Protest, Demands Accountability and Fair Investigation into Election Irregularities
November 6, 2025 , Darbhanga
The Jan Suraaj Party has raised serious allegations of large-scale irregularities in the 83-Darbhanga Shehri Assembly Constituency, claiming that the election process was marred by administrative bias, fake voting, and violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Senior party leader and former DGP-ranked officer Shri R.K. Mishra staged a peaceful protest at the Darbhanga Police Station, condemning the misuse of power and the erosion of administrative neutrality during the polls.
Mishra expressed deep concern over the conduct of local officials, stating, “If the police can behave in this manner with a retired officer of my rank, one can easily imagine how ordinary citizens are being treated in this state.”
He urged the Director General of Police (DGP), Bihar, to take strict disciplinary action against officers accused of misusing their authority and neglecting their duties. He also criticized the Election Observer for failing to act on repeated complaints, which, according to the party, allowed the MCC violations to continue unchecked.
Describing the incident as a “dark chapter in democracy,” the Jan Suraaj Party issued a set of key demands:
- Immediate intervention by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
- Suspension and inquiry against officers involved in malpractice.
- Re-polling at affected booths.
- Public release of CCTV footage from all polling stations.
Mishra concluded, “This issue is not limited to a single constituency; it concerns the very spirit and integrity of Indian democracy. Fair elections are the foundation of people’s faith in the system, and that faith must be protected at all costs.”
