NEW DELHI, October 30, 2025

The Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications (UzJOKU) recently welcomed a delegation from India’s MERI Group of Institutes to discuss expanding academic cooperation in journalism and media education. The meeting marked another step forward in strengthening educational ties between the two countries.

Discussions centered on developing new opportunities for joint academic programs, student and faculty exchanges, and dual-degree initiatives. Both institutions emphasized their shared vision of preparing highly skilled, globally competitive professionals equipped to meet the evolving demands of modern media.

The partnership between UzJOKU and MERI Group of Institutes began earlier this year following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during an official visit by the Uzbek delegation to India. The agreement provides a strategic framework for collaboration in key areas such as curriculum development, academic research, and the organization of international conferences and workshops.

During the latest meeting, both sides reviewed the progress of existing initiatives and discussed practical steps to further enhance cooperation. Plans include hosting joint lectures, introducing online journalism courses, and expanding opportunities for cross-border training and internships.

For UzJOKU, working with MERI Group — which houses the College of Journalism and Mass Communication — holds special value. The Indian institution is recognized for combining theoretical instruction with practical media training, offering students access to state-of-the-art facilities for television and radio production, as well as industry exposure through collaborations with leading Indian media organizations.

This growing partnership between Uzbekistan and India in journalism education reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, professionalism, and cultural exchange — paving the way for a new generation of media experts capable of operating on a global stage.
