Who is the Hardest Worker? Jaiswal Chooses Shubman Gill Over Virat Kohli

Yashasvi Jaiswal Reveals the Secret Behind Shubman Gill’s Hard Work and Consistency

Virat Kohli is known for his great discipline. Because he has practiced so hard for so long, he has really set a whole new level for the game.

Since he first started playing internationally back in 2008, Kohli has become one of the sport’s greatest. Even now, at 37, he is a senior guy, but he still trains with the same intensity as the youngest player on the team because he is just so determined to perform well every single time.

However, when Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was asked who the hardest worker is, he picked Shubman Gill.

Jaiswal explained his choice, saying: ‘It has to be Shubman Gill. I’ve watched him up close lately. He puts in a tremendous amount of work and, more importantly, he’s super consistent with his routines. He focuses heavily on his fitness, his diet, his skills, and his training. It’s truly amazing to see. I love watching him play and being around him—he’s also a fantastic person.’

Jaiswal then complimented Gill’s performance, adding, ‘He batted so well and intelligently during that Test series against England. We had total confidence that he would deliver, no matter the situation.'”

Jaiswal’s Splendid ODI Century and Career Focus

“Jaiswal opens in Tests, yet he hasn’t made the T20 team for the past year.” However, he just had a big moment last week. This left-handed batsman (the southpaw) scored his first-ever ODI century against South Africa in the final match in Visakhapatnam, powering India to an easy nine-wicket win.

Jaiswal actually got this chance because Shubman Gill was sidelined with an injury. Jaiswal struggled a bit in the first two games—he got off to good starts (getting out at 18 and 22) but couldn’t make them count. But in that third game, he showed great maturity, holding back his natural attacking style to hit a superb century in only his fourth ODI appearance.”

India plays its next match in a Test series against South Africa. The teams will start the 1st Test match on December 26, 2025, with the first ball at 9:30 AM IST. Centurion, South Africa, hosts this game, and you can typically watch the live action on the Star Sports Network and stream it on Disney+ Hotstar.
