Three Members of One Family Targeted with Same Suspicious Telegram Link; Delhi Police Probe Sought

New Delhi:Dr. Bhargav Mallappa has urged the Delhi Police Commissioner to launch an immediate investigation into an alleged coordinated cyber fraud operation, after the same malicious Telegram link was reportedly sent simultaneously to three members of his family.

According to the complaint, Dr. Mallappa, his wife and his brother-in-law received an identical suspicious Telegram link from an account identified as “RAGINBHARGAVBHARGAV”, leading him to allege that the incident was a planned phishing attack aimed at compromising personal information, digital devices and financial credentials.

The complaint states that an online report has already been registered with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and acknowledged by the Cyber Police Station, New Delhi District. Dr. Mallappa has now sought the intervention of the Delhi Police Commissioner for a comprehensive criminal investigation.

In his complaint, Dr. Mallappa has identified Suresh BP as the primary suspect and stated that supporting digital evidence—including the alleged phishing links, screenshots of Telegram interactions and identity documents—has already been submitted to the investigating authorities.

He has urged Delhi Police to trace the origin of the alleged phishing campaign, identify others involved, block the fraudulent domains and Telegram channels linked to the operation, and register an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Calling the incident a serious threat to public cybersecurity, Dr. Mallappa urged authorities to act swiftly against organised phishing networks operating through messaging platforms to prevent similar attacks on other citizens.

Describing the whole incident Mallappa said, “This was not an isolated phishing attempt but a coordinated attack targeting multiple members of the same family at the same time. I urge the authorities to investigate the larger network behind it and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
