Day 2 of the 3rd Intra College Moot Court Competition at MERI Professional and Law Institute brought high energy and sharp legal thinking as students battled it out in the semi-final and final rounds. With months of preparation behind them, the top teams stepped into the courtroom determined to argue their way to the top.
Out of 38 original teams, only six qualified for the semi-finals after impressing judges in the prelims with their clarity, legal research, and persuasive arguments, setting a high bar with their courtroom conduct and strategic thinking.

Dr. Aqsa Sikander, Advocate Vivek Shokeen (Additional Secretary, Rohini Court Bar Association), and litigation expert Advocate Kartikeya Matta judged the semi-finals. They closely evaluated each team’s ability to interpret the law, present clear arguments, follow procedure, and respond quickly to tough questions. Judges praised the students’ poise and preparation.

After two competitive rounds, two teams from the LLB 3-Year course earned their place in the finals.

A panel of Supreme Court professionals — Shri Anand Mishra (Advocate-on-Record), Advocate Vishal Khattar, and Advocate Vandita Nain, presided over the final round. They pushed the finalists to think deeper, argue sharply, and defend their positions under pressure. The judges challenged assumptions, raised nuanced legal points, and expected clear, structured replies.

Prof.. (Dr.) Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President of MERI Group of Institutions, was key in guiding the event. His focus on hands-on legal education and simulation-based learning continues to shape how students prepare for real-world legal careers. Prof.. (Dr.) Preet Singh, Principal of MERI Law Institute, opened the competition on Day 1 and encouraged students to push their limits in the courtroom.

Keynote speakers Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi (Head, MERI CIS) and Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Khurana (Advisor, MERI Group) added valuable perspective and energy to the day, reminding students that law connects with every field and that good advocates must think beyond books.

As Day 2 wrapped up, students didn’t just walk away with awards; they walked away with stronger arguments, sharper minds, and a deeper passion for the profession they’re preparing to enter.
