Rajasthan Govt. pushes for affordable housing, sustainable cities, and rapid urban development

New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant on Friday underlined the state government’s strong commitment to affordable housing and sustainable urban development. Speaking at the 17th National Conference of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) in New Delhi, he said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan has been undertaking key reforms while effectively implementing central schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Pant said Rajasthan has made visible progress in affordable housing, urban infrastructure, and clean water supply, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision. The state has rolled out a new township policy, model building bylaws, Transit Oriented Development, and Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to simplify approvals and accelerate project timelines. He also noted that Rajasthan’s first Green Budget has laid the foundation for circular economy initiatives, better land-use planning, and sustainable resource management.

Highlighting the state’s investment potential, Pant pointed to the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, where MoUs worth nearly ₹1.25 lakh crore were signed in the urban sector, with projects of around ₹25,000 crore already in progress. Over the past year, Rajasthan has also introduced 15 new policies across industry, tourism, mining, civil aviation, and energy, with more under preparation to enhance livability and attract investors.

On infrastructure, Pant announced nine upcoming greenfield expressways to boost connectivity and revealed that work on Jaipur Metro Rail Phase-2 will begin soon in partnership with the central government. He stressed that Rajasthan’s geographical positioning offers a strategic advantage for growth and development.

“The government’s mantra is to make the lives of citizens simple and easy,” Pant concluded.

The conference also saw participation from senior Rajasthan officials: Principal Secretary Mr. Debashish Prusty spoke on “Affordable Housing for All,” RERA Chairperson Ms. Veenu Gupta addressed “RERA’s Next Chapter,” and Local Self Government Secretary Mr. Ravi Jain shared insights on “Urban Mobility and Quality of Life.”
