Mumbai Police Investigate Sexual Assault Complaint; NCW Criticizes ‘House Arrest’ for Vulgar Content, Demands Accountability
5 May 2025, New Delhi
Actor Ajaz Khan is under investigation following a rape complaint filed by a woman who alleges that Khan sexually assaulted her under the pretense of marriage and a role in his web show House Arrest, streamed on the Ullu App.
The complainant claims that Khan invited her to host House Arrest, during which he proposed marriage and promised to convert to her religion. She alleges that he later assaulted her at his residence. The Charkop Police have registered a case under sections 64, 64(2)(M), 69, and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

In a related development, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of the explicit content in House Arrest. The NCW has summoned both Ajaz Khan and Ullu App CEO Vibhu Agarwal to appear on May 9, citing concerns over the show’s vulgarity and potential violation of consent norms.
The show has faced backlash for its explicit content, with political figures like Maharashtra BJP Mahila Morcha president Chitra Wagh demanding a ban, stating that such content is detrimental to societal values and easily accessible to minors.
As investigations continue, both Khan and Agarwal are expected to provide their statements to the authorities. The situation has sparked a broader debate on content regulation and the responsibilities of OTT platforms in India.
