Rita Singh, a long-time resident of Chicago and daughter of President’s Police Medal awardee J.B. Singh, has been honoured for her outstanding service to the Indian community in the United States.
Originally from India, Rita Singh has lived in Chicago for the past 28 years. During this time, she founded key organisations like the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) and Women’s Empowerment (WE), both based in Chicago. Through these platforms, she has worked to bring the Indian community together, promote Indian culture, and support women’s empowerment.
Her efforts have helped strengthen ties between India and the Indian diaspora in North America. Widely respected in both Indian-American circles and local civic groups, she is known for promoting unity, preserving cultural values, and supporting social causes.
Rita Singh’s work is supported by her husband, Sanjeev Singh. The couple has been actively involved in civic and cultural activities in the U.S., representing Indian values abroad. Her father, J.B. Singh, a former Intelligence Bureau officer in India, was awarded the President’s Police Medal for his distinguished service.
Rita Singh’s recognition highlights her decades-long commitment to community building and her ongoing efforts to inspire younger generations to stay connected with their roots.
