Venkateswara College Northeast Students’ Association Launches Assam Flood Relief Campaign, Acharya Dharmveer Urges Collective Support

New Delhi: Students from Delhi University and members of the Northeast community have joined hands to support families affected by the severe floods in Assam. The Northeast Students’ Association of Delhi University’s Venkateswara College has launched a relief campaign to bring students, young people, volunteers and civil society together for humanitarian assistance.

Yug Sanskriti Nyas is supporting the initiative as a partner organisation.

Relief Campaign to Support Assam Flood Victims

The campaign comes as Assam continues to deal with the impact of flooding, with relief and rehabilitation efforts underway in affected areas. Northeast students studying in Delhi, along with members of the city’s Gen Z community, have come forward to express solidarity with families facing the crisis.

The initiative will focus on collecting essential supplies such as food, drinking water, medicines, hygiene products, clothing and other necessary items. Organisers are also reaching out to Northeast community members in Delhi, student groups, social organisations, volunteers, businesses and concerned citizens to participate in the campaign.

Acharya Dharmveer Appeals for Collective Support

Acharya Dharmveer, founder of Yug Sanskriti Nyas, has backed the campaign and urged people across the country to support Assam’s flood-affected families.

He said Assam is an important part of the national community and that sympathy alone cannot address the difficulties faced by families during a crisis. According to him, collective action and youth participation can strengthen the spirit of service, unity and national solidarity.

Acharya Dharmveer also stressed that the value of a contribution should not be measured only by its size. Instead, he highlighted the importance of the intention to help and the collective commitment to ensuring that assistance reaches people who need it.

Students Stand in Solidarity With Assam

Devayani Lama, President of the Venkateswara College Northeast Students’ Association and a third-year Political Science student, said students want to support people in Assam during the difficult situation.

“This is a difficult time for Assam, and we want to stand with our people. Students may have limited resources, but collective effort can certainly make a difference,” she said.

Priyanka Dole, Vice President of the association and a third-year History student, said even a small contribution can provide meaningful support to families affected by the floods.

“Our small contribution can become a ray of hope for families affected by the floods. We appeal to everyone to come forward and support Assam,” she said.

Anindita Ray, Cultural Secretary and a third-year History student, highlighted the importance of cultural and social connections during difficult times.

“Culture brings people together, and that bond becomes even stronger during a crisis. We want to turn our concern into meaningful support,” she said.

Anish Bhagwati, a member of the Advisory Committee and a third-year Sociology student, said young people can make a significant contribution to humanitarian and community service initiatives.

“Young people can make an important contribution to humanitarian relief efforts. We are committed to extending every possible support to this relief campaign,” he said.

Essential Relief Supplies to Be Collected

The campaign will prioritise the collection of food items, packaged drinking water, medicines, hygiene supplies, clothing and other essential materials.

According to the organisers, efforts will be made to deliver the collected supplies to affected areas through coordination with local volunteers and suitable relief networks.

However, the campaign is not limited to collecting relief materials. Organisers also aim to create a platform where Northeast residents, students and young people in Delhi can participate in social responsibility and humanitarian service.

Gen Z Youth at the Centre of the Initiative

The campaign seeks to combine the energy of Gen Z, the social commitment of young people and the collective strength of the Northeast community to support flood-affected families in Assam.

Appealing to citizens to contribute according to their ability, Acharya Dharmveer said that every contribution can make a difference to a family affected by the floods. He also urged people to turn their concern into meaningful service.

The organisers said the initiative is intended not only to support Assam during the flood crisis but also to strengthen the social and emotional connection between Delhi and the Northeast.

With the message of “Service, Unity and National Solidarity,” the campaign aims to channel youth participation towards humanitarian assistance and encourage collective responsibility during natural disasters.
