Olectra Becomes First to Deploy 4,000 Electric Buses in India

Delhi: Olectra Greentech Limited, one of India’s leading electric mobility companies, has become the first company to deploy 4,000 electric buses on Indian roads.

The milestone marks a major step in India’s shift towards sustainable public transportation. It also strengthens Olectra’s leadership in the country’s electric mobility sector.

The company celebrated the achievement during the flag-off of 297 electric buses for the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).

Olectra Crosses Historic 4,000 Electric Bus Milestone

During the event, Olectra symbolically handed over its 4,000th electric bus to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri.

Senior officials from the Himachal Pradesh Government, HRTC, and Olectra Greentech attended the ceremony. Olectra now operates 4,000 electric buses across several states and cities. This has reinforced its position as India’s leading electric bus manufacturer.

The fleet has covered over 730 million green kilometres. It has prevented more than 6.5 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The buses also provide reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly public transport.

Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of Olectra Greentech Ltd., called the achievement one of the company’s biggest milestones.

He said becoming the first company in India to deploy 4,000 electric buses is a proud moment for Olectra. He added that it is also a landmark achievement for India’s electric mobility sector.

According to him, the milestone reflects the growing confidence of state transport undertakings in electric mobility. It also reinforces Olectra’s commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

Mahesh Babu said the company was proud to hand over its 4,000th electric bus to the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The handover took place during the launch of 297 Olectra electric buses for the HRTC fleet.
