Rajasthan’s artisans, women-led groups and food producers receive an enthusiastic response from Delhi visitors during the ten-day festival
New Delhi: The ten-day Teejotsav Craft and Food Fair at Bikaner House concluded on Monday with sales crossing ₹1.30 crore, reflecting strong demand for Rajasthan’s traditional handicrafts, apparel, food products and cultural offerings among Delhi visitors.
The festival brought together artisans, craftspeople, artists, women-led self-help groups and food producers from across Rajasthan. It offered visitors an opportunity to explore the state’s rich craftsmanship, cuisine, folk traditions and cultural heritage at one venue.
Principal Resident Commissioner Rohit Kumar congratulated the participating artisans and exhibitors on the record sales. He said Bikaner House witnessed strong footfall from the opening day, with visitors showing keen interest in handicrafts, food products, cultural performances and traditional games.
Om Prakash, Advisor, RUDA, said 25 stalls were set up by RUDA to showcase traditional Rajasthani handicrafts, textiles and apparel. He noted that the stalls received an enthusiastic response, with visitors making substantial purchases. Sales this year were also significantly higher than in previous editions.
Rajeevika also brought 15 stalls featuring award-winning artists and craftspeople associated with women’s self-help groups from Rajasthan. According to Anupama Saxena of Rajeevika, the stalls displayed hand-block printed bedsheets, suits, sarees, bangles, jewellery, mojari footwear, lacquerware, leather products and traditional Rajasthani food.
Saras dairy products were another major attraction, with sales exceeding ₹3 lakh. Products sourced from different district milk unions included Alwar’s kalakand, Bikaner’s rasgullas and gulab jamuns, cow ghee, buttermilk, lassi, paneer and shrikhand.
Joint Resident Commissioner Rinku Meena said several prominent dignitaries visited the festival during its ten-day run. They included Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, MP Bhagirath Choudhary, the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, and senior officials from the IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service, along with other officials from the Central and Rajasthan governments.
The festival opened on August 15, when Rohit Kumar inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Over the next ten days, visitors witnessed the traditional procession of Teej Mata, a special performance by renowned Rajasthani folk artist Kutle Khan, featuring Sufi and Rajasthani folk music, and performances by folk artists from different regions of Rajasthan.
Beyond its commercial success, Teejotsav 2026 provided artisans and women’s self-help groups with a direct platform to showcase and sell their products to consumers. It also helped Delhi audiences connect with Rajasthan’s traditional crafts, cuisine, folk music and cultural heritage.
The successful conclusion of the festival highlighted the growing popularity of Rajasthan’s traditional arts, crafts and food in the national capital while opening new avenues for artisans, craftspeople and grassroots entrepreneurs to expand their markets.
