Security Boosted After Pahalgam Attack; Terror Hideout Found, LoC Firing Continues

Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, security operations have been intensified across South Kashmir by the Army, Police, and the Special Operations Group (SOG). Dense forests and nearby areas are being thoroughly searched, with drones and video surveillance closely monitoring every movement of the terrorists. In the course of these operations, the SOG achieved a major success.

Late Sunday night, a joint search operation by the Army, Police, and SOG in the Marhote area of Surankote tehsil in Poonch district led to the destruction of a terrorist hideout. Five IEDs, a wireless set, and some clothing were recovered from the site. The recovered materials have been seized, and efforts are underway to determine when and by which terrorist organization the hideout was established.

In the wake of the Pahalgam attack, security forces have intensified search and surveillance operations in eight key areas: Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Tral, Sopore, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continued unprovoked firing at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) for the 11th consecutive day on Monday. According to the Ministry of Defence, the firing took place during the night of May 4–5, 2025, across several sectors including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army gave a swift and precise response to this aggression.

In response to Pakistan’s continued hostile activities, the Indian government has taken several stringent measures. These include sending back Pakistani nationals from India, closing the Atari-Wagah border, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, banning Pakistani commercial flights from Indian airspace, and halting trade and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
