Director Aishwarya Rajinikanth and actor-director Dhanush have filed for divorce at the family court in Chennai. The decision, made under Section 13 B allowing for divorce by mutual consent, comes after the couple has been living separately for the past two years. Sources close to the couple revealed that they initiated the petition almost a year and a half ago.
Aishwarya and Dhanush tied the knot in a grand ceremony back in 2004 when they were 21 and 23 years old, respectively. Together, they have two children named Yatra and Linga.
Earlier the news of their split was shared by the couple on social media platform ‘X’ in 2022.
Following their separation, both Aishwarya and Dhanush have been concentrating on their professional endeavors. Aishwarya ventured into direction with her debut film ‘Lal Salaam’. Meanwhile, Dhanush has been actively involved in various acting projects and is currently working on his second directorial venture titled ‘Raayan’.
