MERI Seminar Explores Marketing Opportunities in New Space Economy

10th April, 2026 , New Delhi :

The Management Education and Research Institute (MERI), Janakpuri, hosted its 20th Annual Marketing Seminar, “Mercadeo Cresta 2026,” on Wednesday, focusing on the theme “Marketing Mix for the New Space Economy.”

The seminar brought together industry experts, academicians and students to discuss how marketing strategies are evolving alongside rapid developments in the space sector.

Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President, MERI, in his opening remarks, said space technology is now part of everyday life and no longer a distant concept. He emphasised that as startups increasingly build businesses around space-based applications, understanding marketing in this domain is becoming a crucial skill for future managers.

Chief Guest Mr. I. P. Aggarwal, Chairperson, MERI Group of Institutions, highlighted the shift from government-led space programmes to a vibrant ecosystem driven by private enterprises and global collaborations. He noted that the traditional 4Ps of marketing have expanded, with “products” now including satellite communication, navigation systems, remote sensing and space tourism.

Industry experts shared practical insights during the session. Praful Gambhir of S&P Global spoke on the importance of emotional branding and storytelling in building strong consumer connections. Lt. Col. (Retd.) Rakesh Verma of Vantor explained that space marketing is often indirect, with users paying for applications powered by satellite technologies rather than the services themselves.
An online session by ORF researcher Pranav R. Satyanath traced India’s journey into the NewSpace era and highlighted emerging opportunities.

The event concluded with student presentations and a certificate distribution ceremony.
