Delhi Police Probe Firing Near ISBT Kashmere Gate on Car Carrying Lawrence Bishnoi’s Advocate

Late-night gunfire near ISBT Kashmere Gate injured one person after attackers targeted a car carrying Lawrence Bishnoi’s advocate. Delhi Police have registered an FIR and launched a detailed investigation.

New Delhi: In a shocking late-night incident, a car carrying advocate Deepak Khatri, who is linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s legal team, was attacked near the busy ISBT at Kashmere Gate on Tuesday night, February 24, 2026. The group had gone to pray at a Hanuman temple, but the visit ended in a targeted shooting. One person was injured. The attack has raised serious concerns about gang violence reaching public places in Delhi.

How the Incident Happened

The firing took place around 10:15–10:30 PM near the Marghat Wale Hanuman Temple, close to ISBT Kashmere Gate, one of Delhi’s busiest transport areas where thousands of passengers travel daily.

Deepak Khatri was in the car with his friend Sandeep Bisht, the driver, and two other companions — five people in total. After offering prayers at the temple, they were sitting in the car and getting ready to leave when a motorcycle with 2–3 unidentified men approached from behind.

The men on the bike followed the car for a short distance and then fired 3–4 rounds at it. The rear windshield of the car broke. Sandeep Bisht was hit in the shoulder by a bullet.

The people inside the car panicked and ran towards the nearby bus stand for safety. The driver then sped away and stopped a few kilometres later. Deepak Khatri immediately called the police control room (PCR).

Victims and Their Condition

Deepak Khatri, a practising lawyer, escaped without injury. Police confirmed that he is associated with Lawrence Bishnoi’s legal team. Reports state that his wife, Rajni Khatri, serves as one of the main lawyers representing Bishnoi.

Sandeep Bisht, who works with an NGO and is linked to Khatri, was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors have said he is stable and out of danger.

Videos that surfaced after the incident show the damaged car with its rear window shattered and a man sitting on the road nearby.

Police Action and FIR

Delhi Police reached the spot within minutes and registered an FIR at Kashmere Gate Police Station based on Deepak Khatri’s complaint under:

• Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 109(1) – attempt to murder
• BNS Section 3(5) – criminal conspiracy
• Arms Act Sections 25 and 27

Forensic teams collected evidence from the spot. Police are checking CCTV footage from the area. The Special Cell and Crime Branch have also joined the investigation.

What Police Officials Said

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said the incident happened around 10:10 PM and confirmed that Deepak Khatri is Lawrence Bishnoi’s lawyer. He also confirmed that the attackers shot Sandeep in the shoulder, but doctors have said that he is stable.

Joint Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said police are recording detailed statements and investigating all possible angles, including reports that Shahzad Bhatti, a Pakistan-based gangster with alleged terror links, had earlier threatened Khatri.

Possible Gang Rivalry Angle

Authorities have lodged Lawrence Bishnoi in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, and they have accused him in more than 30 cases related to murder, attempt to murder, and extortion. Investigators have linked his gang to several high-profile crimes, including the 2022 murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, threats to Salman Khan, and recent shootings outside businessmen’s homes in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Mumbai.

Police are also looking into the role of Shahzad Bhatti, who is reportedly based in Karachi and linked to the ISI. Earlier in February 2026, the Bishnoi gang had claimed responsibility for an attack on Bhatti in Portugal. Bhatti had openly threatened Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi. Police are investigating whether Tuesday’s firing was revenge in this ongoing gang rivalry. Officials have said they are examining all angles.

Concerns Over Public Safety

The firing near ISBT Kashmere Gate, a crowded public place close to metro lines and a major bus terminal, has raised concerns about safety in high-traffic areas. Delhi has seen an increase in targeted gang shootings in 2026, many linked to Bishnoi associates.

Although police have not confirmed any terror angle, the international links in the Bishnoi-Bhatti rivalry show how cross-border criminal networks can affect security in the capital.

Current Situation

As of Wednesday morning, Sandeep Bisht remains stable in hospital. No arrests have been made yet. Police hope that CCTV footage and forensic evidence will help identify the attackers soon.

Deepak Khatri reportedly said, “Let’s see if anyone takes responsibility for this.”

This incident shows how organised crime can reach even busy public areas. While Delhi Police responded quickly, experts say continued strong action against gang networks operating from jail and abroad is necessary to improve public safety.
