New Delhi, 11 April 2025 —
The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) and SolarPower Europe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation on solar manufacturing between India and the European Union, with a focus on building a stronger, diversified and resilient supply chain for the solar sector.
The agreement comes amid increasing global trade uncertainty and aims to support mutual growth through technological collaboration, business facilitation, and policy dialogue.
India, a leading global solar market, has seen increased participation from European companies, which bring high-performance technologies, on-site expertise, and long-term product reliability. At the same time, India’s domestic manufacturing capacity is growing steadily, positioning the country as a major player in global solar production.
Through the MoU, NSEFI and SolarPower Europe will work to identify opportunities for joint manufacturing projects and financing, promote knowledge-sharing between stakeholders, and address regulatory challenges related to market access for solar components.
Máté Heisz, Chief Operating Officer at SolarPower Europe, stated:
“The EU and India are key partners in the clean energy transition. European competitiveness policies are driving demand for reliable solar products, and India plays a central role in the global diversification of solar manufacturing. This renewed partnership with NSEFI opens new avenues for European companies and supports India’s solar ambitions.”
Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of NSEFI, said:
“India and the EU are aligned in their commitment to clean energy. As India moves toward its 500 GW non-fossil target by 2030, we are also emerging as a global hub for solar manufacturing. Our collaboration with SolarPower Europe strengthens innovation, cross-border investment, and upstream manufacturing partnerships that will contribute to a secure and sustainable energy future.”
