FIFA has suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) due to its failure to adopt crucial changes to its constitution, which are required to ensure fair and democratic elections for the president. The suspension comes after the PFF Congress rejected the amendments proposed by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which were meant to address transparency and eliminate political influence in the election process.

The revised constitution, primarily focusing on the eligibility and candidacy rules for the PFF president, is essential for bringing accountability and fairness to the federation. Despite multiple warnings and a set deadline of February 15, the PFF has failed to approve the proposed changes. As a result, Pakistan’s football has been suspended from international competitions, severely affecting the country’s prospects on the global stage.

This suspension marks the third time since 2015 that FIFA has had to take action against the PFF due to its failure to implement necessary reforms and ensure a transparent election process. FIFA has made it clear that the suspension will only be lifted if the PFF Congress adopts the revised constitution and conducts a fair election for the president.
