New Delhi: The MERI Group of Institutions has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Technological University of Tajikistan (TUT) to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between India and Tajikistan.
The two institutions formalised the agreement in Dushanbe on September 17, 2026. Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice-President of MERI Group of Institutions, signed the MoU with Prof. Rahmonzoda Zoir Faizali, Rector of TUT.
Representatives from the Embassy of India in Dushanbe and the National Commission for UNESCO under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the signing ceremony.
Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi, Head of the MERI Centre for International Studies and Director of the India Central Asia Foundation, also attended the event. Mr. Luv Aggarwal and Prof. Ikromi Khushed Ikrom, Vice-Rector of TUT, were also present.
MERI Group and TUT to Collaborate on Research
Under the MoU, MERI Group and TUT will work together in management, artificial intelligence and other professional disciplines. The partnership will support research, scholarships and joint academic projects.
The institutions will also organise thematic conferences, seminars and round-table discussions. These programmes will bring together academics, technocrats, diplomats, defence analysts, entrepreneurs and policy administrators.
Partnership to Strengthen India-Tajikistan Relations
The collaboration will focus on areas that serve the mutual interests of India and Tajikistan. It will also encourage academic and research exchanges between the two countries.
The MERI Group of Institutions, based in New Delhi, provides education in management, engineering, space studies, journalism, law, international relations, economics and commerce.
Established in 1991, TUT conducts fundamental and applied research and plays an important role in Tajikistan’s higher education sector.
The new academic partnership aims to expand educational, cultural and people-to-people connections between India and Tajikistan.
