Sri Lanka Tourism Announces Special Travel Trade Roadshow and Networking Evening in Surat on June 15, 2026

Surat, Gujarat: The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), in partnership with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai, will organize a special Travel Trade Roadshow and Networking Evening in Surat on 15 June 2026. The event will bring together leading tourism stakeholders from Sri Lanka and South Gujarat to explore new business opportunities and strengthen industry ties.

The event forms part of Sri Lanka Tourism’s strategic efforts to strengthen its presence in the Indian market and further enhance travel trade partnerships in Gujarat, one of India’s fastest-growing outbound travel regions.

Sri Lanka recorded a historic 2.3 million international visitor arrivals in 2025, with India continuing as its largest source market, contributing over 531,000 visitors and accounting for nearly 23% of the country’s total international tourist arrivals. This strong performance underscores the importance of the Indian market in Sri Lanka’s tourism growth. Building on this momentum, Sri Lanka Tourism aims to attract over 3 million international visitors in 2026.

Known as India’s diamond and textile capital, Surat has emerged as a significant outbound travel market with growing demand for international leisure holidays, destination weddings, family vacations, luxury travel, and MICE tourism. Sri Lanka Tourism sees tremendous potential in the region and is committed to strengthening trade relationships with travel professionals across South Gujarat.

The Roadshow will witness participation from leading Sri Lankan tourism stakeholders, including hotels, resorts, destination management companies, attractions, and tourism service providers, who will engage directly with travel agents, tour operators, MICE planners, corporate travel buyers, media representatives, and tourism influencers from Surat and surrounding cities.

The programme will feature:

  • Business-to-Business Networking Sessions
  • Destination Presentations
  • One-to-One Buyer-Seller Meetings
  • Media Networking Session
  • Sri Lankan Cultural Performances
  • Networking Dinner Reception
  • Exciting Lucky Draws and Giveaways

Speaking on the initiative, Sri Lanka Tourism officials noted that Gujarat has become an increasingly important market due to its strong economy, growing international travel demand, and increasing preference for short-haul international destinations.

With pristine beaches, rich cultural heritage, wildlife experiences, luxury resorts, wellness retreats, adventure tourism, and convenient connectivity from India, Sri Lanka continues to position itself as one of the preferred international destinations for Indian travellers.

The Surat Roadshow is expected to create new business opportunities, strengthen tourism cooperation, and further increase visitor arrivals from South Gujarat to Sri Lanka.
