New Delhi: Delhi-NCR is experiencing light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and lightning today. This has brought relief from dry winter weather, but it has also led the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert. The weather change is due to an active Western Disturbance affecting northwest India. This system is causing rain in the plains and heavy rain or snowfall in the Western Himalayan region.

According to observations at the Safdarjung Observatory around midday, the temperature was 15.2°C with 79% humidity. Winds were blowing from the west-southwest at about 11 kmph. Slight to moderate thunderstorms with rain were continuing at the time.

The IMD has predicted generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of light rain or thundershowers during the forenoon. These conditions will continue through the afternoon and evening or night, with strong winds gusting at speeds of 30–50 kmph.

Temperatures are staying mild. The minimum temperature is likely to be between 8°C and 11°C, which is above normal for this time of year. The maximum temperature will remain between 18°C and 21°C, staying close to normal levels. People may face minor problems such as low visibility, slippery roads, and the risk of waterlogging. Residents are advised to avoid being outdoors during thunderstorms.
