Nimisha Priya’s Husband Joins Dr. K.A. Paul in Delhi, Calls for PM Modi’s Urgent Intervention to Save Her Life

New Delhi, August 8, 2025:

Noted humanitarian and global peace ambassador Dr. K.A. Paul today addressed a press conference at Andhra Bhawan, New Delhi, reiterating his appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to urgently intervene in securing the release of Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse imprisoned in Yemen since 2017 and facing the death penalty.

Nimisha’s husband, Thomas, was also present at the press conference alongside Dr. Paul, expressing gratitude for the sustained efforts that led to the cancellation of her execution scheduled for July 16. Dr. Paul revealed that he personally led negotiations with Yemeni tribal leaders, international coordinators, and faith-based leaders across the Middle East, spending weeks on the ground at personal cost to facilitate Nimisha’s return.

Dr. Paul outlined a series of 20 factual developments in the case, including the absence of proper legal representation for Nimisha, her failed attempts to return to India, and the silence from Indian authorities over the last seven years. “Despite the absence of an Indian embassy in Yemen, the government cannot absolve itself of responsibility,” he stated. “If I were the Prime Minister, the first step would be to seek the resignation of the External Affairs Minister Jaya sankhar who stood like a puppet many times clapping during Trump inaugural speech and for failing to act in time.”

He also slammed what he called “malicious attempts” by certain individuals and media houses to discredit his mission. “Let the media report the truth. Spreading lies when a life is at stake is not just unethical — it is inhuman,” he said, naming a malayalam Mathrubhumi daily that allegedly published misleading reports yesterday and demanded an apology and removal of that false story .He warned that legal action would follow if such misinformation was not withdrawn within 72 hours.

Dr. Paul further connected his advocacy for Nimisha with his broader commitment to justice and public welfare. He highlighted his ongoing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against betting and loan apps, which recently led the Supreme Court of India to issue notices to 29 state governments, Union government of India and top APP owners endorsing such platforms.

“The same political and corporate forces that have allowed online betting apps to flourish unchecked are also failing people like Nimisha. I will not be silenced,” said Dr. Paul. “I have not taken a single rupee from any individual or organization. This is a personal mission driven by faith and principle.”

Concluding his address, Dr. Paul made a direct appeal to the Prime Minister and Home Minister:
“Nimisha can be brought back within two weeks — if the Prime Minister or Home Minister spares just five minutes for a meeting. The groundwork has been done. All we need now is the political will to act.”

Dr. Paul also announced his upcoming Global Peace Summit scheduled for September 21 in New York, where world leaders, including Yemeni authorities and tribal representatives, have been invited to foster diplomatic dialogue and peace.
