Delhi Honors the Memory of Ram Babu Sharma on His 17th Death Anniversary

Tribute meeting held alongside a free health and eye check-up camp, benefiting more than 500 residents

New Delhi, January 28, 2026:

On the occasion of the 17th death anniversary of former MLA and senior Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee leader late Ram Babu Sharma, a tribute meeting along with a free health and eye check-up camp was organised at Shri Sai Temple, Qabool Nagar, Shahdara. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from local residents and party workers, who gathered in large numbers to pay their heartfelt respects to the late leader, remembered for his lifelong commitment to public service.

As part of the service initiative, more than 500 underprivileged residents underwent free medical and eye examinations, and were provided medicines and spectacles at no cost. The camp reflected the values and vision of late Ram Babu Sharma, whose politics was deeply rooted in service to society.

The tribute programme was attended by several senior Congress leaders and public representatives, including senior Congress leader and former MP Jaiprakash Agarwal, former MLA Vipin Sharma (son of late Ram Babu Sharma), social worker Paras Sharma (Pinky), former MLA and Chairman of the Trans-Yamuna Development Board Arvinder Singh Lovely, councillor Shivani Panchal, former MLA Anil Bhardwaj, along with many senior leaders, social activists and prominent citizens of the area. Representatives from various political parties, including Zubair Ahmed, Bhishma Sharma, Ishwar Bagdi, Ashwani Sharma, Sushil Tiwari, Mahesh Kapoor, Mayank Chaturvedi and Jai Karan Chaudhary, also actively participated in the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Jaiprakash Agarwal described late Ram Babu Sharma as a visionary, hardworking, principled and mass leader whose entire life was devoted to public welfare and strengthening the organisation. He said that Sharma’s contribution as the Congress leader in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi continues to inspire party workers even today.

Former DPCC president Anil Chaudhary recalled that the construction of Rajiv Bhawan was one of the most significant contributions of late Ram Babu Sharma, which remains a vital centre of ideological strength and democratic struggle for the Congress organisation. Former MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely said that Ram Babu Sharma’s life exemplified the true spirit of politics—not as a means to acquire power, but as a tool to serve society and democracy.

President of the Accredited Journalists Association, Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, said that the Association organised the tribute meeting to honour the ideals and values of late Ram Babu Sharma by offering floral tributes in his memory. Leaders from various political parties also paid homage during the programme.

The large public turnout and service-oriented activities clearly demonstrated that late Ram Babu Sharma continues to live on in the hearts of the people, and that his legacy of public service will keep inspiring future generations.
