Kalyan Kumar Shaw, a committed member of the Tatanagar Railway Civil Defence team, has brought national recognition to his unit by securing the second position in the prestigious ‘Flood and Cyclone Response Course’ conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Academy in Nagpur.

The five-week intensive training program, held for personnel involved in disaster response, included 32 participants from across the country. The course featured representatives from Civil Defence, Home Guards, State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF), and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Designed to prepare responders for large-scale natural disasters, the training focused on key areas such as submerged building rescue operations, rapid deployment techniques, and structured civilian evacuation during floods and cyclones. Participants underwent rigorous evaluation across written, practical, and oral modules.
Shaw demonstrated exemplary performance throughout the course, earning him the second-highest ranking at the national level. His achievement was formally recognized with a certificate presented by DIG Dr. Hari Om Gandhi of the NDRF.
Reacting to the accomplishment, Tatanagar Civil Defence Inspector Mr. Santosh Kumar congratulated Shaw, stating,
“Dedicated and well-trained personnel like Kalyan Shaw form the backbone of our disaster response capabilities. His success not only marks a personal milestone but also reinforces our unit’s commitment to community service and emergency readiness.”
The recognition stands as a testament to Shaw’s discipline, commitment, and service-oriented mindset. It also underscores the consistent training standards of the Tatanagar Railway Civil Defence team, which continues to uphold its motto of “Service is Duty.”
