Bollywood actor Nadeem Khan, known for Dhurandhar, arrested in Mumbai for allegedly raping his 41-year-old domestic help over 10 years under false marriage promises. Investigation ongoing.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Nadeem Khan, famous for his supporting role in the 2025 film Dhurandhar, was arrested by Mumbai Police on January 22, 2026, for allegedly raping his 41-year-old domestic help repeatedly over nearly a decade, reportedly under the false promise of marriage.

The case has raised concerns about exploitation in employer-employee relationships in the entertainment industry. Police are investigating thoroughly, including examining digital records and witness statements.

Victim’s Allegations and Timeline

The victim, a domestic help who has worked for several actors in Mumbai, met Nadeem Khan in 2015. She alleged that he repeatedly promised to marry her, using this assurance to establish a sexual relationship.

The alleged rapes occurred over 10 years, primarily at her residence in Malad/Malvani, and occasionally at Khan’s home in Versova. The first incident reportedly took place at her Malad home.

The victim filed a complaint after Khan allegedly refused to marry her, prompting the authorities to take action.

Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The victim initially filed a zero FIR at Versova Police Station, but police later transferred the case to Malvani Police Station, as the first assault and her residence fall under its jurisdiction.

Mumbai Police arrested Khan on January 22, 2026, charged him under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (rape), and presented him in court the same day, where the court remanded him to police custody until at least January 26 for further interrogation and evidence collection.

A senior Mumbai Police official said, “The accused has been arrested based on the complainant’s statement. We are investigating the matter thoroughly, including verifying timelines and potential corroborative evidence.”

The investigation includes examining phone records, messages, and witnesses connected to the victim. As of now, no bail has been granted.

Nadeem Khan’s Career

Nadeem Khan gained recognition for his role as Aklakh in Dhurandhar (2025), directed by Aditya Dhar, alongside stars like Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt. In the film, his character is a cook who betrays the protagonist and ultimately faces a dramatic demise.

He has also appeared in notable films like Mimi (2021), Vadh (2022), Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy (2022), Mrs Serial Killer (2020), and Dhadak (2018). Khan has worked with veterans such as Amitabh Bachchan, Asrani, Adil Hussain, and Sanjay Mishra, and was scheduled to appear in Vadh 2, releasing on February 6, 2026.

Prior to this arrest, there are no publicly reported allegations against him. He has maintained a low-profile career, mostly in theatre and OTT platforms. Neither Khan nor his representatives have issued any official statement as of January 26, 2026.

Media Attention and Industry Implications

The arrest has attracted widespread media coverage, highlighting the power imbalance in domestic employment within Bollywood. Social media, including X (formerly Twitter), has seen discussions with hashtags like #NadeemKhanArrested and #JusticeForVictim, demanding accountability.

Rights groups have called for a fair and speedy trial, noting that domestic workers often face intimidation in such cases. The incident has sparked conversations about worker safety and accountability in the entertainment sector, though no colleagues or industry peers have publicly commented yet.

The investigation remains ongoing, with further updates expected as more evidence and details emerge.
