Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Somya Gurjar called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the national capital on Tuesday, engaging in an in-depth discussion on the city’s development agenda and the progress of GST-2 reforms in Rajasthan.
Dr. Gurjar apprised the Finance Minister of the major civic upgrades carried out in Jaipur, including beautification drives and infrastructure improvements initiated at the municipal level. She emphasized that Jaipur has witnessed visible transformation through sustained local body efforts.
Highlighting the broader economic impact, Dr. Gurjar noted that the introduction of GST-2 reforms has fostered a more conducive business environment in Rajasthan. She stated that the reforms have brought tangible benefits to both traders and residents, simplifying processes and improving economic ease across sectors.
The Mayor also shared observations from her administration’s tenure, discussing the fiscal challenges faced by Rajasthan’s urban local bodies and the need to further strengthen their financial resilience.
To commemorate the occasion, Dr. Gurjar presented the Finance Minister with a special coffee-table book titled “Mera Jaipur Greater,” showcasing the achievements and initiatives of the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation.
