Foreign Minister Araghchi slams Trump’s threats and ridicules Israeli reliance on U.S. support; Tehran rules out new nuclear talks despite ceasefire

Tensions between Iran and the United States have flared once again, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issuing a sharp warning to former U.S. President Donald Trump, while simultaneously mocking Israel for seeking American protection during recent missile exchanges.
In a strongly worded statement, Araghchi said that if Trump is serious about re-entering nuclear negotiations, he must stop using disrespectful language toward Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Iranian minister warned, “Diplomacy cannot exist alongside insults.”
On social media, Araghchi also took a jab at Israel, saying, “When Iranian missiles rained down, Tel Aviv had no choice but to run to their ‘daddy’ — the United States — for cover.” The remark triggered renewed debate over Israel’s strategic dependency and defense capabilities.
Trump’s Provocative Claims
The controversy began after Trump claimed in a social media post that he had once spared Khamenei’s life, despite knowing his exact location. “I saved him from a horrific death,” Trump wrote, “but instead of gratitude, all I got was hate.”
These remarks have not only fueled diplomatic hostility but also ignited political discourse about the ethics and credibility of such claims. Iranian officials swiftly dismissed Trump’s statement as “false bravado” and reaffirmed that Iran would not yield to intimidation.
Iran’s Stern Response
Araghchi responded by stating that Iran is “not a nation that bows to threats.” He emphasized that if the U.S. or Israel miscalculates Tehran’s intent or capability, Iran is prepared to demonstrate its full military strength.
Meanwhile, Iran reaffirmed its position on nuclear negotiations: “There will be no new talks with the U.S. under pressure or disrespect,” a senior Iranian official said. This contradicts Trump’s claim that he was considering lifting some sanctions to re-initiate dialogue.

Missile Strikes and Ceasefire Tensions
Although a ceasefire was recently declared between Iran and Israel after a fresh wave of missile attacks, the region remains volatile. U.S. forces had earlier conducted strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz, escalating regional insecurity.
Trump concluded his remarks with another warning: “If Iran refuses to join the world order, it will face serious consequences. I tried offering peace, but their hatred ended everything.”
As both sides harden their stances, the prospects for peace and renewed diplomacy remain bleak, further unsettling an already tense Middle East.
