Himanshi and another user received chicken meals instead of vegetarian orders from EatFit via Zomato, prompting outrage and company responses.
New Delhi, 29 July 2024
A disturbing error occurred when Himanshi, a user on X, bought a vegetarian lunch from EatFit via Zomato and ended up with a chicken dish. Upon discovering the error, she took to the platform to share her frustration, stating, “I ordered palak paneer soya matar and millet pulao through Zomato from Eat Fit. Chicken palak was offered in place of palak paneer. Delivering chicken during Sawan is unacceptable when I specifically ordered vegetarian food.” Along with her post, she included a picture of the chicken found in her meal and the bill, which confirmed her order of six vegetarian items. Since her post on July 28, it has garnered significant attention with numerous views and likes.
In response, EatFit said, “Hey, we truly regret the meal experience and would like to investigate this.” Kindly provide us with the details of your order through messaging. “We are sorry for the confusion and recognize the distress this may have caused you,” Zomato’s official X handle stated in reaction to the issue. We take your dietary choices very seriously, thus we would never purposefully ignore them. We value your patience as we investigate this and will get back to you as soon as we have more information.
This incident follows a similar experience shared by another X user, Shobhit Siddharth, from Bengaluru. Siddharth recounted that he had ordered a paneer thali, only to receive a chicken thali instead, which was particularly concerning as the vegetarian meal was intended for his pregnant spouse, who has been told to stay away from meat.
