Youth-Centric Strategy: Kamal Nath’s ‘First Voter Plan’ Takes Center Stage in Madhya Pradesh Elections

Madhya Pradesh, September 29, 2023

In the run-up to the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the Congress party, led by Kamal Nath, has strategically adopted Prime Minister Modi’s successful formula to target first-time voters. With the launch of the ‘First Voter Plan,’ the Congress aims to captivate the youth vote, capitalizing on dissatisfaction with the incumbent BJP government.

In 2018, despite forming the government, Congress faced setbacks against BJP. However, the upcoming 2023 elections paint a different picture. The Congress has initiated the ‘First Voter Plan’ focusing on the 18.86 lakh first-time voters, a number expected to rise as the final voter list approaches 19 lakh on October 4.

The Congress campaign, spearheaded by party leader Ranjeet Surjewala, emphasizes transparency and accountability. Their approach includes engaging young voters and highlighting the BJP government’s shortcomings, resonating with the discontented youth.

Madhya Pradesh, under BJP rule since 2003, has seen waves of dissatisfaction, especially among the youth. Despite the government’s claims, issues like alleged recruitment scandals and delayed appointments have left nearly 12 lakh youth disappointed. In this scenario, Kamal Nath’s adoption of PM Modi’s strategy seems to be a calculated move, aiming to turn the tide against the BJP in the upcoming elections.
