The largest passenger elevator is in India, at Jio World Centre in Mumbai with the capacity to carry more than 200 people at once
New Delhi, 28 March 2024
An elevator can only hold fifteen to twenty passengers, as you may have noticed. However, the Jio World Center in Mumbai has a lift large enough to accommodate 200 people at once. This elevator appears to be a castle from the inside. The lift is said to be the world’s largest passenger elevator ever constructed in history, weighing around 17 tons.
The view inside the lift is no less than that of a 5 star hotel. It feels as if you have entered a palace. Some sofas have also been installed for sitting inside the lift. The elevator’s floor is covered in marble and the interior area allows for the comfortable movement of 200 persons at once.
The Jio World Plaza (JWP) opened its doors to the public on November 1, 2023, offering a unique blend of attractions for guests. Combining the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, the Jio World Convention Centre, and the Jio World Garden, it creates an all-encompassing experience for visitors.
