New Delhi 2nd August 2024

In an unexpected turn of events on August 1 at the Paris Olympics, veteran badminton player Prakash Padukone discussed his feelings over the early match between India’s top men’s singles players, Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy. In the Round of 16, Sen defeated Prannoy, the top-seeded singles player in India; Padukone deemed this a regrettable outcome.

For the Indian badminton team, the match was a major blow after a difficult day in general. In addition to Prannoy’s elimination, PV Sindhu lost to He Bing Jiao of China, and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost a difficult three-game match to Chia-Yik of Malaysia in the men’s doubles category. After their early encounter, there were lower expectations for Prannoy and Sen, who were expected to be medal contenders in their Olympic debut.

Padukone accepted the circumstance and clarified that these kinds of draws are inherent to the sport. Even at BWF events, Padukone claimed, “it happens all the time.” “It’s a little unfortunate, but I believe that one must abide by the rules.” He made it clear that the draw’s structure occasionally places elite players against one another earlier than intended.

Prakash Padukone emphasized, “We expect Lakshya to reach his peak performance.” He stressed the importance of giving it everything during this critical week of the OlympicS. the importance of performing at one’s best during the Olympics. For just one week, he has to give it his all.”

Padukone’s observations during the recent Olympics in Paris capture the hardships and optimistic will of Indian badminton players facing hardship.
